'I first met Tom Sherak when I was a student at UCLA. Tom taught a course called 'Distribution 101.' I was fortunate enough to not only have him as my teacher, but for him to become my mentor. That first class led to what would become a lifelong friendship and an incredible source of personal encouragement and strength for me. I always knew that no matter what the issue or how seemingly unsurmountable the problem, Tom would be there to guide me. I deeply mourn his loss, but more importantly, celebrate his life.

Disney Media & Academy Extend Oscar Telecast Agreement Thru 2012

Disney Media Distribution and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have extended their agreement for DMD to distribute the annual Academy Awards(R) telecast internationally through 2020, Tom Sherak, Academy president and Anne Sweeney, president of the Disney/ABC Television Group, announced. The previous agreement had been set to expire in 2014.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy Awards ceremony will remain in Hollywood for the next 20 years. The Academy and the owner of the Kodak Theater have reached an agreement to ensure that the telecast will be broadcast live from Hollywood for the next two decades.
