Tom Lowe is a pop singer/composer who recently released a short video entitled 'Polanco'. It's enchanting to watch this little miraculous film about a small Mexican city and what goes on in one of its popular bars. The story is based on a real life incident in which Lowe was robbed in the back of a taxi in Mexico City. His disgust of the people eventually turned to respect and love when many came forward, helped him to survive and to produce his video. South Bend Civic Theatre Hosts Holiday Concert Tonight
South Bend Civic Theatre will present an evening of holiday songs tonight, December 18th at 7:30 PM celebrating the many traditions and faiths of the season performed by SBCT company members. The concert will be a tribute to longtime SBCT board president, member, patron, and friend Tom Lower, who passed away suddenly earlier this year. Donations will be accepted at the concert to benefit a memorial in recognition of Tom's service and devotion to South Bend Civic Theatre. Tom chaired the capital campaign that raised the funds to acquire the new building for SBCT and was instrumental in developing the fundraising efforts to create the Jim Coppens Endowment which will ensure the long-term sustainability of SBCT. The concert will be held in the Wilson Theatre. Tickets are $10, and are available by calling the SBCT Box Office at 574-234-1112 or going online at www.sbct.org. Musical Theatre West at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA opened its 61st season with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, a musical comedy from the creative team of the 12-time Tony Award winning smash hit The Producers. The production, with music and lyrics by Brooks and a book by Thomas Meehan, marks the regional theater premiere of this hilariously tuneful show based on the 1974 smash hit film Young Frankenstein which was a wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Mary Shelleyclassic from the comic genius of Mel Brooks.
