Talkbacks to Accompany Castillo Theatre's Production Fred Newman's BILLIE, MALCOLM & YUSUF

The Castillo Theatre (Dan Friedman, artistic director; John Rankin, associate managing director) has scheduled two talk backs in-conjunction with its current production of Fred Newman's Billie, Malcolm & Yusuf, directed by award-winning director, Gabrielle Kurlander. The Castillo Theatre Company Commemorates 30th Anniversary Of The Murder Of Yusuf Hawkins With Production Of BILLIE

The Castillo Theatre (Dan Friedman, artistic director; John Rankin, associate managing director) is proud to announce that it will produce a revival of the 1991 play by Fred Newman, Billie, Malcolm & Yusuf, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Yusuf Hawkins' murder in 1989.  Billie, Malcolm & Yusuf will be directed by award-winning director, Gabrielle Kurlander.  The production includes blues and rap music. The Castillo Theatre is located at 543 West 42nd Street in Manhattan. Performances are between February 15 and March 17, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

On Thursday, February 9, Adam Clayton Powell IV and his son, Adam Clayton Powell V, attended the first preview of  'ADAM,' a bio-drama by Peter DeAnda which dramatizes the political life and legacy of the legendary Harlem Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr.

Woodie King Jr.'s National Black Touring Circuit, in conjunction with Voza Rivers/New Heritage Theatre Group, held a special presentation of the 2015 Black History Month Play Series at Harlem Hospital on February 15 with a special reading of Ossie Davis' 1950s Civil Rights school desegregation play The People of Clarendon County and the one man show Adam, the story of Harlem minister and congressman Adam Clayton Powell. Both plays will be performed February 20 - 22 at Mind-Builders Performing Arts Center in the Bronx. Check out photos below!

Woodie King's National Black Touring Circuit's 2015 Black History Month Play Series will feature "Adam," the story of legendary Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, and a reading of Ossie Davis' seminal play "The People of Clarendon County" from February 8 - 22 in Harlem, Queens and the Bronx. Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre continues its 44th season with Dr. Du Bois and Miss Ovington starring Kathleen Chalfant and Timothy Simonson. Gabrielle L. Kurlander directs. Performances begin January 16h, with opening night scheduled for January 30th.

The National Black Touring Circuit kicked off the Black History Month Play Festival 2013 with a special press reception in Harlem on Saturday, February 2 that featured a discussion by acclaimed poet and author Amiri Baraka on "The Meaning of Black History" and a performance by Timothy Simonson portraying Harlem legend Adam Clayton Powell from the play Adam.
