Timothy Graphenreed, (8-26-1951 to 3-1-2020) Composer/Lyricist/Co-Author/Musical Director.Vocal Arranger/Orchestrator/Show Pianist, is best known for composing "The Tornado", "The Funky Monkey", and "Emerald City Ballet" in the Mega Broadway hit “The Wiz”. He is a member of ASCAP and worked with several multi-talented Directors/Choreographers including Michael Peters, Maurice Hines, Pat Birch, Hinton Battle, Lee Summers, Louis Johnson, Debbie Allen, Otis Sallid and of course, Tony Award-winning George Faison. He has also worked with or created arrangements for several Notables including the late Gregory Hines; Jennifer Holiday; Phylicia Rashad; Jeff Goldblum; Robert Downey, Jr.; Maya Angelou; Valerie Simpson; Darlene Love; Morgan Freeman; Charles Strouse; Ben Vereen; Melba Moore; Lalo Schifrin; Nick Ashford; Peobo Bryson and Patti Austin to name a few. He has written arrangements for several corporations including Ford, Krizia, L’Oreal, Essence Magazine, CBS, Rai Uno, Panasonic, PBS, Coca Cola “100 Years of Coca Cola” and Lincoln Mercury. Recent projects include: Creator of “Yesterday’s Dreamers, Tomorrow’s Stars”, a story of how an optimistic newly rich kid from Iowa changes the lives of some uninspired Crucian youth. Creator of “CherriSoul”, which tells the tale of a calorie-challenged woman, Cherri Lancaster, who shows the world that is it the Size of the Talent that matters. Co-Creator with Jalal Sherriff of “What Are You Doing With Your Life” a musical that chronicles an 11-year-old Harlem girl’s journey towards ridding her family from the clutches of drug use. Mr. Graphenreed had the distinct pleasure of having done vocal arrangements for Four African American TONY Award winners including Lillias White, Hinton Battle, Adriane Lenox, and LaChanze.
