Palm Springs YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL Announces Winners
The Palm Springs Young Playwrights Festival (PSYPF), which promotes and encourages creative writing - in the theatrical form - open to all elementary, middle and high school students within Riverside County, has announced the Festival’s 2021 winners. The plays submitted were reviewed by a selection committee and winners were chosen. Each winner will receive a mentorship to enhance their play, a free to the public staged reading by professional actors in June 2022, and a $500 scholarship to help further their career in the arts.
BIRDBATH to be Presented on Demand by KNOW Theatre

This special installment features 20 new works including Head Trauma by international playwright, Marcus Yi; and making its American theater debut, the Iran Saye Theatre's new work: THE MAN AND THE WORDS written and directed by Mehdi Mashhour and performed by Golshad Moradi & Alexsander Kwanje. International actress, Emmy Pai returns to New York theater in Christopher Sirota's new play, PULL THE TRIGGER, STUPID.

The Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Theatre Company, Inc. production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince, will make a return to South Florida as a major presentation of the 2009-2010 theatrical season when it opens Wednesday, December 23, brings in New Year 2010, and runs through Sunday, January 17. Well remembered by local theater goers for its phenomenal run when it opened on February 26, 1991 as the premiere presentation of the newly built theater, this 4-week run will mark another landmark presentation as a major 'special' of Broadway Across America-Ft. Lauderdale presented by Florida theatrical Association at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
