Smithsonian Channel Announces New Season of DISASTERS AT SEA

MEMPHIS BELLE IN COLOR tells the story of the famed Memphis Belle – a B-17 bomber plane that became a symbol of the Allies' desperate fight against the German Luftwaffe during WWII – with vibrant color footage of the iconic aircraft in combat. Turning toward the Pacific theater, BATTLE OF MIDWAY: THE TRUE STORY revisits one of the most pivotal battles in United States naval history – a decisive victory that turned the tide in the United States' punishing fight against Japan. Smithsonian Channel to Premiere HUNT FOR EAGLE 56
Smithsonian Channel will reveal the exclusive story of the discovery of the “Holy Grail” of missing World War II warships, the USS Eagle 56. The new three-part series, HUNT FOR EAGLE 56, will follow the Nomad Exploration Team – a group of New England wreck divers who made the discovery – as they unearth cryptic clues 200 feet below the ocean's surface off the coast of Maine. The revelation confirms that Eagle 56 is the last U.S. Navy warship sunk by a German submarine off the U.S. East Coast during WWII. HUNT FOR EAGLE 56 will premiere on Smithsonian Channel on Sunday, September 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Smithsonian Channel Announces Moon Landing 50th Anniversary Celebration
Half a century after humanity's historic first step on the Moon, Smithsonian Channel will launch a six-week celebration of this historic accomplishment. Six-part series APOLLO'S MOON SHOT explores the Moon program through unique and rare access to Apollo artifacts from the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, while a companion augmented reality app enables users to participate in the mission. American Conservatory Theater Raises $900,000 At Its Fall Celebration
