He loves being surrounded by the different people, art, and ideas that influence him everyday. When he is not acting he enjoys contemplating whether or not he is a hipster. Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) companies have it more difficult than companies that present theatre for adults in some respects. If they set out to present a story that's already been adapted by a certain big entertainment company – you know, the one that all started with a mouse – audiences are likely to come into the theatre with that version in mind. They may also expect a big budget spectacular that few – if any – TYA companies are positioned to deliver.

Theater J will bring playwright Anna Ziegler back to DC with the insightful, wry drama, Another Way Home, which plays June 23 through July 17, 2016. Another Way Home, directed by Shirley Serotsky, follows the Nadelman parents (Rick Foucheux and Naomi Jacobson) at summer camp visiting day which quickly turns into a family emergency. Their son Joey (Chris Stinson), is nowhere to be found and they are left wondering - where has he gone, why is their marriage lacking, and what might have happened if they had taken a different path. Join us as we transform Theater J into Camp Kickapoo and discover a little bit more about the strangers we all live with - our family.

Rep Stage, the regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 23rd season with Jami Brandli's "Technicolor Life," directed by Joseph W. Ritsch, Rep Stage's co-producing artistic director. Maxine, a book smart teenager, is caught between her older sister, a wounded soldier who just returned from the war in Iraq, and her ailing grandmother with a flair for American movie musicals.

Commissioned by the Kennedy Center and VSA, the production is based on the National Book Award-winning novel by Kathryn Erskine, adapted by Julie Jensen and features direction by Tracy Callahan. The teens balance their growing friendship and mutual respect with the threat each poses to the others' authority and skill.
