ChesterFest Updates Schedule For 15th Annual Fest
The Richmond Symphony's Big Tent is moving to Chester Village Green this Saturday for the 15th Annual ChesterFest. This will be the first collaboration between The Chester Community Association and the Richmond Symphony for the free, all-day event. Festivities begin at 10:00am and will feature the Richmond Symphony, arts and craft vendors, food, contests, additional live music, and family activities before the Symphony closes out the day (complete updated schedule below).
Seeso Renews FUNNY AS HELL
Seeso, the ad-free comedy streaming channel, today announced it has greenlit the sixth season of “FUNNY AS HELL,” the premium Just For Laughs series. The six-episode season will start production at this year's Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, Canada July 26-27. With five seasons of “FUNNY AS HELL” already available, Seeso is the exclusive streaming network for this one-of-a-kind series that makes its return to this summer's festival.

The New Voices for the Theater playwriting competition will celebrate its 25th year in Richmond June 14-29, 2014. Working closely with Playwright-in-Residence Johnna Adams and professional theater artists, high school student playwrights from across the Commonwealth bring their original one-act plays to life on the stage at the Festival of New Works, held June 27-28, 2014 at Shafer St. Playhouse at VCU (221 N. Shafer St). 150 plays were submitted this year and eight resident winners were chosen in April.

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD to Open 9/26 at Virginia Rep
Virginia Repertory Theatre announces the opening of Harper Lee's classic To Kill A Mockingbird at the Sara Belle and Neil November Theatre, 114 West Broad Street on Friday, September 27 with a Preview on Thursday, September 26. The show runs through October 20, 2013. Long recognized as one of the most influential works of fiction on the criminal justice system, To Kill a Mockingbird and the role of Atticus Finch have impacted lawyers for decades. In recognition of this legacy, Virginia Rep will partner with Leadership Metro Richmond and its members from the legal community to support student matinees for middle and high school students. LMR members from the legal community will facilitate talkbacks with the cast after student matinees and three Friday evening performances. The Honorable Cleo E. Powell, Supreme Court Justice of Virginia, the Honorable Catherine Hammond, Chief Judge of the Henrico Circuit Court, and Kimberly C. MacLeod from Hunton & Williams are among those addressing students.
