The latest production of the classic THE FANTASTICKS arrived at The Pasadena Playhouse September 6, 2016, directed by Seema Sueko. With the book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, THE FANTASTICKS was awarded the Tony Honor for Excellence in Theatre in 1991, in its 33rd year of its 42-year Off-Broadway run (17,162 performances!).

La MaMa Experimental Theater Club is proud to announce the January 26th opening of CAMP WANATACHI, a hilariously provocative new electro-musical that explores two girls' journey of sexual discovery within the unlikely setting of an all-female Christian summer camp. Mashing sick beats with lush live orchestrations, this thrilling piece of theater challenges our preconceptions about the relationship between sex and religion, and in doing so imparts to us an essential truth: 'There is no fear in love.' Previews will be held on January 21st, 22nd, and 23rd.

THE FANTASTICKS Original Backers Reap 24,000-percent Return on Investment

Two backers of the original production of THE FANTASTICKS have reaped a 24,000-percent return on their original investment. The production, which began its run in 1960 and and closed in 2002, will still produce income for the family, Marjorie and Malcolm Gray, until 2020 based on the terms of the original contract, which states the backers will receive money for 18 years following the shows final performance.

Tom Jones, the lyricist and book writer of The Fantasticks, will reprise the role of Henry (The Old Actor) in The Fantasticks, the world's longest-running musical, in celebration of the show's 50th anniversary. Jones originated the role in 1960 when The Fantasticks premiered at The Sullivan Street Playhouse.

The Fantasticks will welcome Doug Ullman, Jr. to the role of 'Matt' on Tuesday, October 29 and Whitney Bashor to the role of 'Luisa' on Monday, November 5. Both have appeared in the new production previously. Having recently completed a run in the American Musical Theater of San Jose's production of Guys and Dolls, Burke Moses will return to the role of 'El Gallo' on Tuesday, October 29.
