Actors Equity and City of Los Angeles Celebrate Theo Bikel's 100th Birthda

In recognition of Theo Bikel's enduring cultural legacy and many year leadership of the Actors’ Unions, the city of Los Angeles has decided, by a unanimous vote by City Council, to name the square in front of the SAG-AFTRA building “The Theodore Bikel Square for Peace and Justice”.

'We are also thrilled to be joined by Musical Director Andrew Smithson who was with us for our 2011 Harbor Lights' productions of Marry Me a Little, and Amahl and the Night Visitors, and is himself a consummate artist and musician. Actor, vocalist and activist Theodore Bikel died July 21, 2015 at age 91 in Los Angeles.  He will be remembered in a memorial concert in New York City, titled 'Remembering Theo - An Evening of Music, Laughter and Love,' September 27 in The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th Street between Park and Lexington Ave.).
