FUN HOME Cast Will Travel to Orlando for Special Benefit Concert Performance!
Fun Home, the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning Best Musical, will play a one-night-only benefit concert performance at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (445 S Magnolia Ave) in Orlando on their night off on Sunday, July 24, its producers announced today. This performance will be a concert version of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical to raise money for Equality Florida and the LGBTQ community of Orlando.
Broadway's ECLIPSED Honors Abducted Women of #BringBackOurGirls
On Friday, April 15, 2016, the Broadway play ECLIPSED by Danai Gurira - a story about the navigation of five women through the vicious Liberian civil war - observed a moment of silence during the curtain call to honor of the hundreds of missing girls who, in 2014 were abducted by members of Boko Haram, a terrorist group, at the Chibok school in Northern Nigeria: #BringBackOurGirls.
ECLIPSED Launches Campaign to Bring 10,000 Girls to See Broadway Production
Producers Stephen C. Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey announced today that the critically acclaimed Broadway boundEclipsed will today launch a campaign to bring 10,000 girls to see the show. Through the '10,000 Girls Campaign,' girls from the Tri-State area between ages 16 to 24, who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience a Broadway show, will be given tickets to see Eclipsed.
ECLIPSED Makes Broadway History During Black History Month with Cast, Creative Team
Eclipsed makes history during Black History Month. Holding the special distinction of being led by the only two African-American lead producers on Broadway, Stephen Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey, Eclipsed will be the first show in Broadway history with an entirely female cast and creative team, and further: an entirely Black cast and creative team. Eclipsed begins previews later this month.
Mystery Woman Revealed! Meet the Real 'Joan' of FUN HOME
In the 12-time Tony nominated musical Fun Home, a college-age Allison, played onstage by Emily Skeggs, sings 'Changing My Major'- a song about her new romance with 'Joan.' Based on the graphic memoir of the same name by Allison Bechdel, the musical is based on her youth, and 'Joan' indeed was a real part of her time at Oberlin College.
