BWW Spotlight Series: Meet Jennifer Chang, a Director, Actor and Educator Who Helped Found Chalk Repertory Theatre
This Spotlight focuses on Jennifer Chang, a director, actor and educator who helped found Chalk Repertory Theatre, a production company which matches plays to site-specific locations around Los Angeles. I first worked with Jennifer on Chalk Rep's production of Oscar Wilde's Lady Windermere's Fan which featured a multicultural cast, performed outdoors throughout the lawns and courtyards at the William Andrews Clark Memorial Library in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles where the pre-eminent collection of Oscar Wilde materials in the world is housed.
Photo Flash: Chalk Rep's World Premiere DEATH AND COCKROACHES By Eric Loo
Meet Eric. He's an aspiring playwright who's trying to break into TV writing when his Dad interrupts his plans by suddenly getting sick with a terminal illness. Instead of stepping up to his familial duties, Eric runs away from his sadness straight into a 'Wall of Dicks'. Fortunately, there's a hot, imaginary Cockroach who's there to help him to confront his grief and his family's disappointment. Death and Cockroaches, a brand new theatrical experience presented by Chalk Repertory Theatre, opens November 9 for four weeks at Atwater Village Theatre. Written by Chalk Rep Artistic Circle member Eric Reyes Loo and directed by Chalk Rep Founding Member Jennifer Chang, in an innovative, immersive production featuring a full sensory experience.

BWW Reviews: Definitely No Trouble Enjoying Scott Caan's THE TROUBLE WE COME FROM
Scott Caan has written a very witty and smart script in his world premiere of The Trouble We Come From. Charlie, oh-so-comfortably inhabited by Michael Weston, has invited his leading man and best friend Vince home for some mano-to-mano advice to help him out of his relationship dilemma. Caan's Vince's perfectly charismatic and charming as the all-bravado-on-the-outside, but sensitive- on-the-inside hunky leading man.
BWW Reviews: Chalk Rep's LADY WINDERMERE'S FAN Returns to Clark Library Grounds by Popular Demand
The William Andrews Clark Memorial Library is located in the historic West Adams District of Los Angeles and houses the pre-eminent collection of Oscar Wilde materials in the world, including a typed copy of "Lady Windermere's Fan" with Wilde's handwritten notes from 1892, the year this comedy of manners was first produced. Thus it is the perfect site for Wilde's brilliant examination of status, family values, gossip and loyalty, presented by Chalk Rep..
BWW Reviews: Intimate FOOL FOR LOVE Draws You Into the Characters and Their Physical Conflict
Chalk Repertory Theatre has created a very intimate way to experience the show, setting it in the backhouse of a Beverlywood area home transforming it into May's 1980s hotel room as she attempts to untangle herself from Eddie on the night their hearts reach their breaking points. With only 20 audience members at each performance, you can't help but be drawn into the story and characters since you are sitting in the hotel room with them, watching them run in and out of the room, slamming doors, hiding in the bathroom, drinking, and of course wrestling on the floor right at your feet.
