Steven Leigh Morris Named Executive Director at LA Stage Alliance
Steven Leigh Morris has been named Executive Director of LA STAGE Alliance, it was announced today by Brian Kite, LASA Board Chair. Morris succeeds longtime leader Terence McFarland, who left the post in April of this year. Morris's start date with the not-for-profit arts service organization will be announced shortly.
3rd Annual LA STAGE Day Set for Todayth
LA STAGE Alliance has announced its third annual LA STAGE Day, a day-long community event for the greater Los Angeles performing arts community. Generously hosted by California State University Los Angeles, the activities will take place on the campus of CSULA today, May 16, from 9am to 5pm.
LA Stage Alliance CEO Terence McFarland to Step Down
LA STAGE Alliance Chief Executive Officer Terence McFarland will be stepping down effective April 30 after an 11-year tenure at the not-for-profit arts service organization, it was announced today by the LASA Board of Directors. On June 1, McFarland becomes Associate Executive Director at Valley Performing Arts Center, California State University, Northridge. He will join Executive Director Thor Steingraber in leading VPAC with multiple and varied responsibilities which include business development, institutional fundraising, box office, finance, community and campus engagement, and a variety of programming initiatives.
3rd Annual LA STAGE Day Set for May 16th
LA STAGE Alliance has announced its third annual LA STAGE Day, a day-long community event for the greater Los Angeles performing arts community. Generously hosted by California State University Los Angeles, the activities will take place on the campus of CSULA on Saturday, May 16, from 9am to 5pm.
LA STAGE Alliance to Relaunch Arts Journalism Program This Summer
LA STAGE Alliance will relaunch its arts journalism program on June 1, 2015, it was announced today. Funding for the program has been provided by Bill Bordy, founder of the former Los Angeles theatrical publication Drama-Logue, in honor of three late members of the LA theatre community -- Lee Melville, Polly Warfield, and Lars Hansen.
LA Stage Alliance & Producers League Of LA Plan 99-Seat Theatre Plan Research Project
LA STAGE Alliance, in partnership with the leadership council of the Theatrical Producers League of Los Angeles/Intimate (TPLLA/I), will work with consultants to research the existing business models for theatre companies working in the 99-seat arena, it was announced today. The project will be completed by May of this year, with findings presented at the annual LA STAGE Day event.
Kate Burton and Katie Lowes to Host 2014 Ovation Awards
Kate Burton and Katie Lowes have been set to host the 2014 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards Ceremony on Sunday, November 2, at the historic San Gabriel Mission Playhouse in San Gabriel, it was announced today. Red carpet arrivals begin at 5:30 and the ceremony starts at 7pm.

Nominees for the 2014 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards were announced on the evening of Monday, September 22 at Native Voices at the Autry National Center in Los Angeles. The nominations were revealed by past Ovation Award recipients Gigi Bermingham, Brighid Fleming, Parmer Fuller, Jennifer Haley, Brian Kite, Glynn Turman, and John Zalewski, along with LA STAGE Alliance Chief Executive Officer Terence McFarland.

The 24th Annual LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards, celebrating theatrical excellence and achievement during the 2013 season, were presented on Sunday, November 3 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse Thirty-five awards were bestowed upon 13 different Southern California theatre companies. Leading the pack with 12 was Center Theatre Group (seven for The Nether at the Kirk Douglas Theatre; three for Joe Turner's Come and Gone at the Mark Taper Forum; one for The Scottsboro Boys at the Ahmanson Theatre; and one for The Royale at the Kirk Douglas Theatre). CTG was followed by 3-D Theatricals with five awards (four for Parade and one for Shrek the Musical). The Chance Theater and La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts took home three awards each (including Best Season for La Mirada); Circle X Theatre Company, the Fountain Theatre, and the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble tied with two each.
