Carbonell Awards Announce 120 Finalists for 2023-2024 Theater Season

Gary Schweikhart, board president of the Carbonell Awards, South Florida's Theater & Arts Honors, has announced the top six finalists in 20 competitive categories for the 2023-2024 theater season. A total of 89 professional productions at 29 theatres were evaluated by a diverse group of more than 40 judges representing all three participating counties (Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach).

In her debut as choreographer of a full-blown professional production Lindsay Joy Lancaster electrified the sold-out Kirkwood Performing Arts Center with her athletic blend of classical and contemporary dance. Director Steve Bebout collaborated with his cast and crew to tell a stirring David versus Goliath story that was exceptionally entertaining with exquisite execution. STAGES St. Louis Announces Full Casting for DISNEY'S NEWSIES

STAGES St. Louis has announced the full cast of their 2024 production of Disney’s NEWSIES, performing July 26- August 25 at The Ross Family Theatre at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center. The show will be led by Daniel Marconi as Jack Kelly and Taylor Quick as Katherine. St. Louis’ Matthew Cox will be making his STAGES St. Louis Debut when he takes on the role of Crutchie.   Steve Bebout, immediately off of his St. Louis Theatre Circle win as Best Director of a Comedy for last year’s hit show CLUE, will return to STAGES to direct Disney’s NEWSIES. Bebout’s CLUE set box office records as the best-selling production in the history of STAGES St. Louis. Choreography will be created by STAGES newcomer, Lindsay Joy Lancaster.

STAGES St. Louis unveiled their stellar ensemble cast for its upcoming production of Steel Magnolias. The cast includes Amy Loui (M'Lynn), Taylor Quick (Shelby), Jilanne Marie Klaus (Truvy), Abigail Isom (Annelle), Zoe Vonder Haar (Ouiser), Kari Ely (Clairee) Lari White (Standby), Lexy Witcher (Standby), and Meme Wolff (Standby). This beloved story, known for its memorable characters and heartfelt message, will grace the stage from May 31 – June 30 in The Ross Family Theatre at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center.

MSMT Draws Large Crowd for Concert on the Mall

What better way to cap what has been billed as MSMT’s Revival Season than with a free, festive outdoor event that, despite intermittent showers, drew a large, enthusiastic crowd? That is exactly what MSMT did on August 24 when it presented its annual MSMT Concert on the Mall as part of the Brunswick Downtown Association’s summer series.
