Washington National Opera to Mount New Production of LA BOHEME, 11/1
(WASHINGTON, D.C.)-Washington National Opera (WNO) continues its 2014-2015 season with a new production of one of the most enduring classics in all of opera: Giacomo Puccini's La boheme, November 1-15 in the Kennedy Center Opera House. Updating the story to post-World War I Paris, this brand-new production by Jo Davies features original stage direction by Peter Kazaras, both in their WNO debuts. WNO Music Director Philippe Auguin leads the WNO Orchestra in interpreting some of opera's most famous melodies. A special November 14 performance features casting by current singers and alumni of WNO's Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program.

Next on the calendar were two short operas from South Africa and Sweden, entitled TWO:30, staged in Cape Town and in Stockholm to critical acclaim.

Robert Spano to Lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in NYX, 10/ 27 & 29 & 11/5
Music Director Robert Spano will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in the U.S. premiere of Esa- Pekka Salonen's Nyx October 27 and 29, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center. The program will also include Scriabin's Poem of Ecstasy and Rachmaninov's The Bells. Soprano Tatiana Monogarova, tenor Sergey Romanovsky, bass Denis Sedov, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus will join the Orchestra for The Bells. Ms. Monogarova and Mr. Romanovsky will make their Atlanta Symphony debuts with these performances.

Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades opens Houston Grand Opera's (HGO) 2010 spring repertory.
Performances run April 16 - May 1, 2010 in the Brown Theater of the Wortham Theater Center.
