The Wooster Group will hold a spring benefit on Tuesday, April 2 at the company's home, The Performing Garage (33 Wooster Street). The Athena Film Festival (AFF) at Barnard College announced today its film slate, including opening night, closing night, and centerpiece films, as well as additional programming for the 2019 festival. The ninth annual festival, co-founded by the Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College and Women and Hollywood, will take place February 28 to March 3, 2019, at Barnard College in New York City. AFF showcases films, television and content that tell the extraordinary stories of fierce and fearless female leaders from all walks of life. Stories of ambition, courage, and resilience amplify the voices of strong, bold women, curating a public discourse on gender equality, and changing the cultural conventions surrounding leadership.

November 13th marks the third anniversary of the radio show now podcast, State of the Arts NYC. Hosted by Savona Bailey-McClain, public art curator and local historian, the show offers a behind-the-scene look for listeners. On June 4, the OBIE-winner HERE will honor Tony Award-winner Eve Ensler and HERE's board chair and star attorney Bethany Haynes at Out of the Box for 25 Years, HERE's 25th Anniversary Gala. The evening celebrates HERE's quarter of a century history as a leader in thinking creatively, reimagining performance practice and taking audiences to new frontiers. HERE has been a champion for unconventional theater artists, puppeteers, musicians, and dancers for 25 years including Ensler, whose groundbreaking The Vagina Monologues was developed and premiered at HERE in 1996.
Live Ideas 2018: Radical Vision Festival Explores The Role Of The Press Today
Friday, April 20, day two of Live Ideas 2018: Radical Vision looks into the role of the press, what it means to be a journalist in an endangered liberal democracy, and what obligations the press has today. Opening the day will be visual artist Huiying B. Chan, who will read words by legendary activist Grace Lee Boggs, followed by author and journalist Moustafa Bayoumi's reading of works by Edward Said and a presentation of speeches by Muhammad Ali read by journalist Greg Tate. The readings will start at 4 pm. Admission is free.
State of the Arts NYC Will Present the Renaissance Revival Chorus for a Concert
In honor of both Black History Month and Women's History Month, State of the Arts NYC will bring the Renaissance Revival Chorus that sang at the Grammys with the artist Kesha, to their Brooklyn studio at WBAI FM Radio for a LIVE performance, February 23rd. The Chorus is a collective of more than 60 women who came together to bring protest songs to present day movements.
