2023 Black Spatial Relics Artists-in-Residency and Micrograntees Announced
Black Spatial Relics is a convener, presenter and supporter of Black radical performance, community care, collective research and transformative gathering. Since 2016, Black Spatial Relics has operated the Black Spatial Relics Residency program which supports the development of new works about slavery, justice and freedom in the U.S and the Caribbean.
BAAD!Ass Women Festival Runs This Month
The Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance forges forward with the 22nd annual BAAD!ASS WOMEN FESTIVAL, celebrating the empowerment of women through art, culture and performance. The festival kicks off on March 5 with two dynamic choreographers Linda La and Tamara Williams and continues through March 30 with six events of dance, literature, film and performance by strong and poignant women.
Board of Trustees Installs Tamara Williams as New Board President
The Amistad Center for Art & Culture is has announced the installation of Tamara Williams as Board President. Williams will preside over her first meeting of the Amistad Board of Trustees on March 9, 2021, and will fill the role previously held by Andréa Hawkins who will continue on the Board as Immediate Past President.

The show continues its run until August 6, 2017 at the new A.R.T./NY Theatres in the Mezzanine Theatre, located at 502 West 53rd Street and 10th Avenue.
The Movement Will Host Youth-Focused Panel AND I WOULD STAND LIKE THIS
The Movement Theatre Company, a Harlem-based nonprofit committed to showcasing emerging artists of color, presents AND I WOULD STAND LIKE THIS…, a youth centered performance and post show panel led by sexual health educator Erika Hart targeting sexual health, family dynamics, and sexual identity. The panel will take place after the July 28th matinee performance of The Movement's current production And She Would Stand Like This by Harrison David Rivers, directed by David Mendizabal, and choreographed by Kia LaBeija at the A.R.T../New York Theatres in the Mezzanine Theatre. Current partners for this event include The Door, A Center of Alternatives, and Safe Horizon's Streetwork Project.

Saks Crime Ring Taken Down
WWD has reported more details about the identity-theft ring involving five Saks Fifth Avenue employees. Monday morning, the Manhattan District Attorny Cyrus Vance Jr. indicted Tamara Williams, 36; Kriss Rockson, 45; Jason Chance, 25; Alaia Harrison, 20, and Michael Knight-Williams, 44. All but Williams were associates at Saks' flagship Fifth Avenue location and used stolen customer information to purchase over $400,000 worth of designer items between April and August of this year.
