Tad Wilson, just returned to NYC after having been a part of the World Premiere of Wonderland the Musical written by Frank Wildhorn. Tad is an original cast member of both the Broadway and Off-Broadway productions of Rock of Ages. During his time at ROA he was honored to be a part of the 2009 Tony awards, the Today Show Concert series, and an appearance on The View. Tad returns to Broadway in 2011 with Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Tad started his professional career early. A graduate of Belmont University, Nashville, TN, he earned a degree in Commercial Music Vocal Performance. His first professional job was at Opryland, USA where he had the opportunity to perform in “And The Winner Is…” and “A Country Christmas” in the spectacular Opryland Hotel. He also performed in “Showstoppers” aboard the General Jackson Showboat. During that time Tad was able to develop a broad range of vocal styles, from country to Broadway and has created a versatility and style that appeals to a broad audience.
In the summer of 2005, Wilson moved to New York to be in the center of the greatest theater community in the world. Soon after arriving, he landed his first role as Dr. Drosselmeyer in “Clara’s Christmas Dreams”, which ran at the Theater at St. Clements. He was also excited about sharing the stage with his son Taylor. Next, he landed one of his favorite roles playing Dave in “The Full Monty” at both Gateway Playhouse and Westchester Broadway Dinner Theatre. Tad has also performed at Sacramento’s Music Circus where he was a part of the very first staging of Les Misrables in the round. In the Summer of 2008, Tad had the opportunity to perform the role of Jean Valjean in Les Miserables at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Auburn, NY. For his performance, he was awarded the Syracuse Area Live Theatre (SALT) award for Best Actor. Tad has been involved in developing several new works such as “Mask”, directed by Richard Maltby Jr, and written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. He has also been involved in the reading of a new musical based on the Warner Brothers film, “Grumpy Old Men”. This new musical boasts the talents of George Hearn, Christopher Lloyd, F. Murray Abraham, and Marylou Henner.
In the summer of 2007, Tad had the privilege of working on his first of many projects written by his good friend Frank Wildhorn. “For The Glory” in Gettysburg, PA, is where he had the opportunity to perform the role of the Southern Captain. It was this project that took Tad all the way to the White House where he shared the stage with Trisha Yearwood, Clay Aiken, and many Broadway greats including Steve Blanchard, Lauren Kennedy, Michael Lanning, and Rob Evan. The concert was presented by the Ford’s Theatre and was given in honor of The President of the United States. Tad has had a part in developing other new Wildhorn projects. He was involved with the workshops of Bonnie and Clyde prior to it’s debut in the Fall of 2009 at La Jolla Playhouse and he originated the role of the Jabberwock in Wonderland the Musical. He continues to enjoy being a part of the very talented Wildhorn family having just finished recording “Tears of Heaven” which will debut next year in Korea. This recording features a host of incredibly talented people including Linda Eder.
Tad has been so fortunate to work with so many incredible people along his journey and is grateful for the privilege of being a part of the Broadway Theatre community.
