Suzy Conn is a musical theatre writer interested in telling the stories of women throughout history. SUFFRA-JETS, (first performed at the 2005 New York Musical Theatre Festival as PLANE CRAZY) tells the story of the emergence of the modern women's movement set against the backdrop of the swinging '60s Jet Age.
THE MERCER GIRLS tells the story of how women civilized the Pacific Northwest. Suzy is currently working on projects spanning from the Atomic Age to 200 years into the future.
CHICK FLICK THE MUSICAL, Suzy's latest project, has announced the cast and creative team for its AEA-approved Showcase presentation taking place February 13 – 15at Loft 227 in Chelsea. Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked, Sabrina The Teenage Witch), Luba Mason (Chicago, Jekyll and Hyde), Trisha Rapier (Sister Act, The Boy From Oz), and Haley Swindal (Jekyll and Hyde, White Christmas) star as four friends who come together for their monthly Friday night chick flick fest. After an evening of sharing and eating their feelings, Meg (Green), Karen (Mason), Dawn (Rapier), and Sheila (Swindal) come to realize that friendship is the best medicine.
As a TYA writer (shows include THE TALE OF PIGLING BLAND, LARRY GETS LOST IN SEATTLE, DAISY THE FIRECOW, SAVE AS..., and THE LAST SHOT), Suzy believes that really good musical theatre can teach children everything they need to know to be successful in life.
