HAM: A MUSICAL MEMOIR Will Stream in January
“HAM: A Musical Memoir,” filmed live on stage, is coming to BroadwayHD, where it will begin streaming exclusively January 7th, 2021. Based on Tony Award nominee and multi-platinum recording artist Sam Harris’s critically acclaimed book, “Ham: Slices of a Life”, the original stage production was developed and directed by Billy Porter.

The powerhouse singer that she is, Ledisi takes on the songs of legendary Nina Simone, honors them and makes them uniquely her own in LEDISI: THE LEGEND OF LITTLE GIRL BLUE (A MUSICAL JOURNEY INTO THE LIVES OF NINA SIMONE AND LEDISI), opening at The Wallis December 13, 2019. Transcending a wide range of musical genres, Ledisi will take you on her own path of musical discoveries, while describing the influence Ms. Nina Simone has made on her. Ledisi ever so graciously blocked open some time to answer a few of my tuneful queries.
Eight Performances Added For LEDISI: THE LEGEND OF LITTLE GIRL BLUE
The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts presents the Fig Street Films production of LEDISI: The Legend of Little Girl Blue, a musical journey into the lives of Nina Simone and Ledisi, from Friday, December 13 through Sunday, December 29, 2019, in The Wallis' Lovelace Studio Theater. Eight performances have just been added to the engagement, due to the original dates being sold out months in advance.

Dance Lab New York (DLNY) is halfway through its Lab Cycle in collaboration with The
Joyce Theater Foundation supporting female choreographers of color in ballet. Over the past two weeks, Amy Hall Garner and Preeti Vasudevan, have been exploring the classical and neoclassical ballet idioms with a company of eight professional dancers, supported by the DLNY Lab Cycle grant in space provided by The Joyce Theater Foundation. DLNY provided each of them with 30 hours of incubation, a stipend, eight paid professional dancers, a rehearsal director, insurances, and administrative support from DLNY staff and Founding Artistic Director, Josh Prince.
MISS AMERICA'S UGLY DAUGHTER Announces New York Run
Producer Suzi Dietz announced today that on the heels of its successful run in Los Angeles, Miss America's Ugly Daughter written and performed by Bess Myerson's only child, Barra Grant, will open in New York this winter. Miss America's Ugly Daughter is a darkly comedic, poignant two character solo show about the seismic mother-daughter relationship of Bess Myerson and Barra Grant and will be directed by Eve Brandstein.

Following critically acclaimed, sold out runs, first in 2018 and again earlier this year, writerperformer Barra Grant returns with her darkly hilarious mother-daughter story: the true, inside tale of Grant's seismic relationship with her mother, Bess Myerson. Pageant Productions and Canon Theatricals present Miss America's Ugly Daughter: Bess Myerson & Me written and performed by Grant and featuring Monica Piper. Eve Brandstein directs once again, this time for a June 21 openingat the Edgemar Center for the Arts, where performances will continue through Aug. 4.
ANNE, A NEW PLAY Celebrates Anne Frank's 90th Birthday At Museum Of Tolerance
In celebration of what would have been Anne Frank's 90th birthday this June, the Simon Wiesenthal Center presents the U.S. premiere of Anne, A New Play, a unique play by Dutch playwrights Jessica Durlacher and Leon de Winter that reframes Anne's story through an unconventional lens. Produced by five-time Tony award nominee Suzi Dietz, Durlacher and de Winter's play has been newly adapted for American audiences by Nick Blaemire from a translation by Susan Massotty and is directed by Eve Brandstein. Previews begin June 5, with opening night set for June 16 at the Peltz Theater in the Center's Museum of Tolerance, where performances will continue through July 22.
