Susane Lee As the Executive Director of Hudson Warehouse, Susane is writing a 4 year series on the works of Alexandre Dumas: Starting in 2017, she wrote and produced and adaptation of The Three Musketeers. In 2018, she is following up with The Three Musketeers: 20 Years Later. This original adaptation and production is a world premiere – the first time anyone has adapted this novel for the stage. In 2019, Susane Lee will write an original adaption for Hudson Warehouse of Man in the Iron Mask, and in 2020, she will complete the Dumas tetralogy with his masterpiece: The Count of Monte Cristo. Susane also adapted and directed their 2017 production of His Girl Friday, wrote and directed the company’s July 2016 production Lysisarah: “Let’s Make America Great Again!” For the Warehouse Susane has also directed Comedy of Errors, and the Warehouse’s first contemporary play, Same River Twice, by Benjamin Elterman, at The Bernie Wohl Center in the fall of 2014. For the Warehouse’s 10th Anniversary, Susane also directed The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) in Riverside Park, then brought it twice to The Bernie Wohl Center. Susane also developed Writers-A-Go-Go, (W.A.G.G.) Contemporary Play Reading Series, a workshop that promotes the works of contemporary writers and which has had staged readings of 9 new plays.
Susane has produced many productions for the NYC jails, including in the New York City Detention Centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.
As Executive Director of Hudson Warehouse, her company was given a PROCLAMATION from the City of New York for the Warehouse’s contribution to the arts, at their 15th Anniversary Benefit.
Susane also directed three staged readings for 365 Women a Year and also nominated for Best Director twice for the Take Ten Festival. Susane has also directed many screenplays for the Writers Guild of America, East at Lincoln Film Center.
As a Producer and Writer for PBS/Channel 13 in NYC for 15 years, she traveled to more than 100 cities across the U.S., producing and writing one hour documentaries for WNET in NYC. Previously, she worked at NOVA at WGBH in Boston. She won a PBS Communication Award in 1999.
Susane is also a member of SAG and has appeared in many films and television productions.
Susane won a NY Foundation for the Arts Fellowship for Nonfiction Literature in 2005. She published a memoir for MORE magazine in 2010. Susane is a Lifetime Member of the Writers Guild of America, East and a member of SAG/AFTRA. Susane was a Finalist for the 2013 Wai Look Award, given by the Asian American Arts Alliance for those “who outstandingly contributed to the arts.”
