On Friday, June 2nd, 2023 The Bushwick Starr held its Groundbreaking ceremony to mark the major moment of the start of construction on its permanent new home in Bushwick. Friends and supporters came out to celebrate, including city and state representatives and community leaders who delivered heartfelt speeches. Here are some highlights:

Tickets Now on Sale for ANIMAL WISDOM Original Film Adaptation
American Conservatory Theater and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company announced today that tickets are now on sale for the original film of The Bushwick Starr’s (Noel Allain, Co-Founder/Artistic Director; Sue Kessler, Co-Founder/Creative Director) critically-acclaimed production of Animal Wisdom, created by and starring Heather Christian.
Bushwick Starr and Hubbard Hall Announce New Artist Residency Program
The Bushwick Starr has announced a new partnership with Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, NY: an Artist Residency Program to support Bushwick Starr artists in developing projects that will be produced in our upcoming Seasons. The first three residencies have been scheduled for December, 2019 and March, 2020, in support of The Conversationalists by James & Jerome, SKiNFoLK: An American Show by Jillian Walker, and Preparedness by Hillary Miller, all of which will be produced at the Starr in late Winter/Spring of 2020.
WP Theater Extends [PORTO] Through March 4
WP Theater and The Bushwick Starr, in association with New Georges, are pleased to announce that due to popular demand, [PORTO], the upside-down romantic comedy written by Obie Award Winner Kate Benson (Super Magic Wild Forest, Desert) and directed by Obie Award winner Lee Sunday Evans (Bull in a China Shop, Caught), will extend. Previously scheduled through February 25,[PORTO] will now play its final performance on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at WP Theater (2162 Broadway).
Carla Hall and Chris Hayes Speak Out in Brooklyn Community Services' Subway Campaign
Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) launches its ONE Brooklyn Community MTA Campaign for the 3rd year on September 12 with Many Voices, Many Stories, a public service poster campaign seen on 36 Brooklyn subway stations featuring Carla Hall of ABC's The Chew, Chris Hayes of MSNBC's All In with Chris Hayes and a diverse group of Brooklyn notables speaking out about Brooklynites who are living in poverty and the impact of volunteering, advocacy and philanthropy to make a positive difference. Sponsored by Investors Bank, ONE Brooklyn Community Many Voices, Many Stories will be on view through October 12th.

The Skidmore College Department of Theater has announced the premiere of a multilingual version of The Orphan Sea by Caridad Svich, 2012 Lifetime Achievement OBIE award winner. Director Eunice Ferreira, Skidmore theater professor, innovatively infuses the play with multiple languages, song, poetry, film and dance to invite audiences on a metatheatrical journey.
