the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra continues a decades-old tradition of presenting free outdoor concerts around the Independence Day holiday with a series of five performances in five different communities beginning on Saturday, June 30 and ending in Harrisburg's Reservoir Park on Wednesday, July 4.
Odin Rathnam Presents Bach Project with Hershey Symphony
Violinist Odin Rathnam, in cooperation with the Hershey Symphony, presents 'The Bach Project.' This series of three concerts (Summer 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2018) offers the complete unaccompanied Sonatas and Partitas of Johann Sebastian Bach, supplemented by works By Ysaye, Kreisler, Piazzolla and Paganini.
Rachel York Launches 10-City Concert Tour
Drama Desk Award-winning actress and singer Rachel York (Disaster!, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Victor/Victoria) embarks on a 10-city concert tour from December, 2016 through April, 2017 beginning with Michael Feinstein's American Songbook at NJPAC! December 1. York joins Feinstein, Andrea McArdle, Jared Grimes, and Youth Songbook Ambassador Julia Goodwin at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark for a cabaret and Q&A featuring favorite American standards. The program will be filmed before a live audience for future broadcast on NJTV, WNET, and WLIW21.
Concert Artists Guild Announces 2014 Winners of the Victor Elmaleh Competition
The 2014 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition culminated last night, Thursday evening, October 16, 2014 with the announcement of three winners of the annual international CAG Competition: Korean violinist In Mo Yang (First Prize); Chinese pianist Fei-Fei Dong, and American trumpeter Brandon Ridenour. All three join the CAG artist roster and receive two-year management contracts.
The Florida Orchestra Names Michael Francis as Its New Music Director
The Florida Orchestra (TFO) has announced the appointment of Michael Francis as its new Music Director starting with the 2015/2016 season, serving as Music Director Designate for the upcoming 2014/2015 season. Appointed as part of an initial three-year contract, his duties include being the primary conductor and providing the artistic leadership for concert programming and related artistic decisions. Although his primary role is with the Tampa Bay Times Masterworks series, he will also be conducting one concert each season for the Raymond James Pops and the morning Coffee Concert series. This reflects Francis' personal desire to be fully-integrated artistically with the orchestra and the organization.
Andrea Burns, Ron Bohmer to Perform With the Florida Orchestra This Weekend
Broadway stars Andrea Burns (In the Heights, Beauty and the Beast) and Ron Bohmer (Phantom of the Opera, Ragtime) will appear in concert with Stuart Malina and the Florida Orchestra on Friday March 9th 2012 at David A. Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa, Florida; Saturday March 10th, 2012 at Progress Energy Center for the Arts Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, Florida; and Sunday March 11th, 2012 at Richard B. Baumgardner Center in Clearwater, Florida.
