Steven C. Kemp is a NYC based set designer for theatre and opera. His designs have been seen Off-Broadway at Keen Company, Mint Theatre Company, Second Stage, the Cherry Lane Theatre and Playwright's Realm. Other NYC credits include work at 59E59, HERE Arts, Clubbed Thumb, Studio 42, Hudson Stage Company, Poliglot Theatre, NYMF, Fringe and the New School For Drama. He has designed internationally on The Physicists (Hungarian Theatre of Cluj), the recent European tour of Ain't Misbehavin' directed by Richard Maltby and the tour of Dixie's Tupperware Party.
His regional and opera credits include designs at La Jolla Playhouse, Royal George Theatre, ReVision Theatre, Stages Rep, Opera Santa Barbara, Opera Grand Rapids and Opera San Jose where his multiple productions include the acclaimed production of Idomeneo presented by the Packard Humanities Institute and also the west coast premiere of Anna Karenina.
He has worked extensively as an associate designer for Robert Brill, David Gallo and Walt Spangler on Broadway, national tours, The Metropolitan Opera, Disney Theatricals, Dreamworks, Norwegian Cruise Lines and a multitude of other companies.
His work was selected for exhibition in the USA student exhibit in the 2007 Prague Quadrennial and was the 2008 USITT Rose Brand Scenic Design award winner and was the 2013 Live Design Broadway Master Class speaker for associate set design.
