BIO

Steve Cisneros is the Producing Artistic Director and Founder of Phantom Projects Theatre Group, based at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, CA.
He started the troupe in 1997 at the age of 17, and continues to oversee the daily operations of the troupe to this day. In addition to their 4-show season at the 1,251-Seat Theatre, the troupe creates theatre for young audiences, touring them to Southern California schools and youth groups.
Mr. Cisneros has produced or directed nearly 100 productions for the troupe.

JARGIE THE SCIENCE GIRL Will Tour Children's Theaters

When 27-year old Jocelyn Argueta was working her way through college, studying Biochemistry at the University of California, Irvine, she filled her little free time working and performing with Phantom Projects Theatre Group in La Mirada. As an older teen, she starred in shows confronting teen-oriented life topics such as bullying and racism. As a young adult she joined their tour of Charlotte's Web, where she portrayed colorful farmyard animals such as geese and pigs, all the while spending countless hours in the on-campus labs of UCI. Upon graduating with a degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Jocelyn's early career was founded in scientific research. She contributed with published work in the field of Neuroscience and as an inventor in allergy diagnostics.
Young Artist Project Returns to La Mirada

Each year, nearly 200 young, creative, multi-faceted performers from all across the United States, apply to be considered for The Young Artist Project, an event held annually each August at the 1,300-seat La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Those selected, (this year there are 6), are given access to a 5,000 sq ft rehearsal space, the theatre, and the financial and creative support of a 22-year-old production company. The participants are between the ages of 16-23 but each have the experience of a seasoned veteran. They have just 14 days to completely create a polished, finished, professional production that is then presented as the final production in the 18/19 Phantom Projects Theatre Group Season, on August 3, at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. Phantom Projects Theatre Group Presents Its Benefit Gala For Arts Education, 'The Phantom Cabaret'

Each year, Phantom Projects Theatre Group provides donates $20,000 in theatre tickets and performances to non-profits, schools, and youth groups. In addition nearly $60,000 in tickets are underwritten allowing groups to be bussed in to field trip performances at the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts. The ability to do this every year, is due to the annual event: The Phantom Cabaret: A Benefit Gala for Arts Education, taking place on May 4 at the La Mirada Country Club. Through an evening of entertainment, dinner, silent auction and more, the event pays tribute to the non-profit organization's work with at-risk youth through the performing arts.

THROUGH THESE EYES Opens At La Mirada Theatre, 4/12

The current youth movement to be a louder, more distinct voice in these complicated times is clearer than ever in 2018. The oppressive demands to be physically perfect and the obsessive way young people often pursue it are leading millions of teenagers towards dangerous situations. Phantom Projects Theatre Group will present the Southern California Premiere of Bud, Not Buddy, a heartwarming play for the entire family set in Michigan during the Great Depression. Based on the Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award-winning novel, the story follows the adventures of Bud, a young boy whose search for his father sets him off on journey that leads him to a new, deeper, understanding of 'family.' Blodgett, Jr., President of Kentucky Opera's Board of Directors, has announced the appointment of Ian Derrer as General Director effective September 1, 2016.  Derrer will be the fifth General Director in the company's 65-year history; he comes to the position from Dallas Opera, where he is Artistic Administrator and a member of the senior management team.
