Stephen trained at Mountview Theatre School. His professional debut was in the London Production of Les Miserables (Palace Theatre) understudy and playing Enjolras. He went on to play the title role in the 1999 UK Tour of Martin Guerre (WYP/Cameron Mackintosh) and recreated the role on the 1999 Cast Recording (First Night Records). Other theatre work includes Jerry Springer – The Opera (BAC, London); Woman in White (Sydmonton Festival); Harry & Young Ebenezer in Scrooge (UK Tour) opposite Shane Richie, and The Producers (Theatre Royal Drury Lane & UK Tour) playing Roger DeBris & covering Leo Bloom. Most recently, Stephen toured in 42nd Street (UK Productions) as Pat Denning, covering and playing Julian Marsh, and was a semi-finalist in ‘Britain’s Got Talent 2013’ as part of the musical Chasing The Dream.
Stephen has also played the Dame in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham), and in Dick Whittington (Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds). He appeared in Ken Hill’s Phantom of the Opera (Theatre Royal, Lincoln) playing Raoul; in Kuala Lumpur with Stars Of The Musicals (West End International) and Magical Musicals (Sunway Lagoon). Also at the Broadway Music Theatre, Tokyo as a soloist in Encore!. Stephen took part in the workshop of the Cat Stevens musical Moonshadow, and toured the UK in You Don’t Bring Me Flowers – the songs of Neil Diamond & Barbra Streisand.
He has appeared in numerous Concerts including Showtime At The Stadium (BBC Wales, Millenium Stadium); Sondheim Tonight (Barbican), Salute to the Stars (Royal Albert Hall) and most recently One Enchanted Evening (Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra). Stephen has toured in Europe with Gregorian - Masters of Chant, as backing vocalist for both Michael Crawford’s 2000 Tour and also for Russell Watson’s La Voce UK Tour 2011. He works extensively with the vocal cabaret groups ‘The Masters Of The House’ and ‘The WestEnders’ both in the UK and internationally, and appears on the WestEnders’ recent album ‘Hear The People Sing’.
Stephen also works with Capital Voices, Maida Vale Singers & Metro Voices as a session singer, soloist and backing vocalist for performers including Martine McCutcheon; Michael Ball; Elaine Paige; Gareth Gates; Michael Crawford; Will Young. Other recording work includes Hey Producer! (Danny Davies – released Mar ‘12); Stars Of The Musicals (JAY Records); Sondheim Tonight (Barbican); title role in Merrick (Pirate Productions); Copacabana (Danish Cast recording) and various soundtracks (incl. Sweeney Todd, The 300, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Into The Woods).
