The Coronavirus emergency left the landscape for the arts gloomy, but Guerilla Opera's thirteenth season had successes which propelled the company into a new era of female leadership and artistry. Guerilla Opera's composers are equally winning. With seven works in development, many smaller projects, and new digital programming, the company's fans and supporters have a lot to look forward to in future seasons.
Music Of Two Worlds Concert Comes to Merkin Hall
The National Music & Global Culture Society is proud to present 'Music of Two Worlds', a concert at the renowned Merkin Hall Kaufman Music Center (129 W 67th St, New York, NY 10036), on June 26, at 7:00pm. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. The NMGCS is a not-for-profit organization that aims to unite our multicultural community through the advocacy of music from around the world. The concert will feature esteemed musicians: Stephen Salters, Amir Vahab, Nargiz Aliyarova (NMGCS president and founder), Duo Trouvaille, and Shenika John Jordan.
Odyssey Opera Continues Gounod Voyage With Boston Premiere
One of the nation's most adventurous opera companies, Odyssey Opera, continues its sixth season with the Boston premiere of the rarely performed 1858 opera Le medecin malgre lui (The Doctor in Spite of Himself). On the occasion of the bicentenary of Charles Gounod's birth (1818-1893), Odyssey Opera offers a chance to become better acquainted with one of the largest French composers of the second half of the 19th Century. Based on a play by the great French satirical playwright Moliere, Gounod's Le medecin malgre lui is a three-act comic opera set to a libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carre. Odyssey Opera will feature baritone Stephen Salters (Sganarelle), mezzo-soprano Tascha Anderson (Jacqueline), the Boston debut of tenor Piotr Buszewski (Leandre), and a full orchestra and chorus conducted by Gil Rose, with stage direction by Daniel Pelzig (Santa Fe Opera, Met Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago). The fully-staged production will be sung in French with English subtitles, with never heard recitatives added by Erik Satie.

Trinity Church's TIME'S ARROW Festival to Celebrate 250 Years of St. Paul's Chapel
Trinity Church Wall Street's annual series of concerts in January has long been a highlight of the musical season. Entitled 'Time's Arrow' to allude to Trinity's signature juxtaposition of early and modern music, the 2017 festival (Jan 1-12) celebrates the 250th anniversary of the opening of St. Paul's Chapel, the oldest church building in Manhattan.

FORTUNE'S BONES: THE MANUMISSION REQUIEM Set for The Paramount Theatre, 2/22
Seattle Theatre Group, (STG) will present FORTUNE'S BONES: THE MANUMISSION REQUIEM, at The Paramount Theatre, Sunday, February 22, 2015, 4 PM, as a FREE public event. The requiem is a musical setting composed by Dr. Ysaye Barnwell, formerly of Sweet Honey in the Rock, of the book-length poem of the same name, written by Dr. Marilyn Nelson. The cantata is performed in Seattle by over 100 local voices, a 40+-piece orchestra of local musicians, an African drum ensemble, and featured soloists.
