Dirty Sock Funtime Band Performs Family Concert at The Jewish Museum, 2/24
The Dirty Sock Funtime Band performs a concert for families at The Jewish Museum on Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 pm. Nominated Best Kid's Band by Time Out New York Kids, this high energy group brings a carnival atmosphere to its performance, filled with call backs, sing-alongs, dance-alongs and jam-alongs. To celebrate the holiday of Purim, kids are invited to come in costume and dance to such klezmer rock songs as ClownaHagila. Members of the band include lead singer Michael Messer, Adam Jacobs aka Mr. Clown; guitarists Stephen Jacobs and Bill 'Billy Z.' Phillips; bass guitarist Jasper Leak; drummer Sean Dixon; clarinetist/saxophonist Ken Thomson; and dancer Annie Elmer. This concert is for children age 3 and up.
David Bowie's Famous K. West Sign on Display in Major Exhibition
A major exhibition of vintage posters and memorabilia from David Bowie's golden years (1969-1981), including on display for the first time in 30 years the original Heddon Street K. West sign that originally appeared on front cover of Bowie's groundbreaking 1972 album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. The exhibition will take place at The Movie Poster Art Gallery, 1 Colville Place, London, W1T 2BG, from today 17th November until Saturday 1st December. Admission is free. New York City Center honored Walter Bobbie, Kathleen Marshall and Jack Viertel in a benefit celebration hosted by Christopher Fitzgerald on Monday, April 4 at The Plaza Hotel. Highlights from City Center's acclaimed Encores! series were recreated by a star-studded cast that included Jason Danieley, Christopher Fitzgerald, Rebecca Luker, Marin Mazzie, James Naughton, Bebe Neuwirth and Emily Skinner, accompanied by members of the Encores! Orchestra under the musical direction of Rob Berman. The evening benefited New York City Center's artistic and education programs.
