Stephen Cowles is a member of United Scenic Artists - Local 829 as a Scenic Designer for theatre, opera, ballet, and industrial shows and as a Computer Graphics Artist. Stephen has worked on Broadway, in opera and commercial entertainment, most recently as the assistant to the scenic designer, Kenneth Foy, on The Little Mermaid at the Paper Mill Playhouse, the national tour of Disney’s High School Musical, Dame Edna, The Royal Tour, the revival of Annie for Broadway and London, the world tour of Porgy and Bess, the 132nd Edition of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, Irish Thunder at Busch Gardens-Williamsburg, and in regional theatre at the Houston Grand Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Goodspeed Opera House, Asolo Theatre, the Berkshire Theatre Festival, and Theater of the Stars. Stephen was the resident scenic designer for the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine for three summers and designed at the Peterborough Players in New Hampshire. Stephen has designed for several industrial production companies such as Creative Presentations, Caribiner International, Jack Morton Worldwide, Pat D’Antonio & Associates, MJM Creative Services, Image Media, The RJO Group, LCI Communications, Encore Productions, Production Resources, dick clark communications, and Michael Carson Productions on projects for such companies as Level 3 Communications, Pfizer, McNeil Pharmaceutical, Bayer Pharmaceutical, Savin, RealNetworks, Chase Bank, IBM, Sony, Burroughs/Welcome, Disney Channel, Levi Strauss, and American Express. Stephen has also worked in film as an Assistant Art Director on The Stepford Wives directed by Frank Oz, the movie The Producers, and Across the Universe directed by Susan Strohman doing 3-D visualization for the art departments.
