STEPHEN COLE is an award winning musical theatre writer. His produced musicals include AFTER THE FAIR (CD, Lyric Stage: 5 Dallas Theatre Awards, York Theatre Company: nominated for the Outer Critic’s Circle Award for Best Musical; produced in London.) THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER (with Claibe Richardson. Concept CD, World Premiere San Francisco, NYMF 2006, Lyric Stage 2010 with full orchestra), SATURDAY NIGHT AT GROSSINGER’S (Dallas starring Gavin McLeod, Long Island, LA and Florida starring Barbara Minkus.) Broadway legend Chita Rivera toured in his show CASPER (which is being revived this summer as a family show) and Hal Linden and Dee Hoty starred in the world premiere of his musical adaptation of DODSWORTH. In 2005 Stephen and David Krane were commissioned to write ASPIRE, the first American musical to premiere in the Middle East. Their experiences resulted in the new musical THE ROAD TO QATAR (Dallas, Off Broadway, CD on Jay Records). TIME AFTER TIME premiered at Pittsburgh Playhouse and also was produced in Hartford, CT. His family musicals include ROCK ODYSSEY and MERLIN'S APPRENTICE. Stephen’s books include NOEL COWARD, THAT BOOK ABOUT THAT GIRL, I COULD HAVE SUNG ALL NIGHT, the Marni Nixon story, ghosted PUT ON A HAPPY FACE (Charles Strouse memoirs). THE BLACK AND WHITE BALL (with Todd Ellison) had a concert reading with FWD Theatre Project, Chicago, MERMAN'S APPRENTICE (with David Evans) has had readings and workshops in NYC, Seattle and London and recently played a sold out concert at Birdland. Works in Progress: BY THE BOOK (with David Krane) Stephen is the recipient of the Edward Kleban Award and a Gilman-Gonzales Falla Commendation for musical theatre.
