Stephanie Riso's THE STORM Concludes MTAP's First Season of Hot Metal Musicals Incubator Readings

MTAP's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator presents its third installment of new musical theatre work-in-development with a public reading of The Storm with book, lyrics and music by Stephanie Riso. This free reading, featuring a cast of 15 and directed by Pittsburgh CLO's producing director Mark Fleischer, will be held on Sunday, January 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the Pittsburgh CLO's Charles Gray Auditorium, 130 CLO Academy Way in downtown Pittsburgh. MTAP's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator readings are being presented with the extensive cooperation and support of the Pittsburgh CLO.

MTAP Incubator Sets Two New Musicals to Premiere at Charles Gray Auditorium

Musical Theatre Artists of Pittsburgh's Hot Metal Musicals Incubator will be relaunched this summer with  two free public readings. The Incubator, aimed at helping creative teams move their work forward by thrusting it in front of an audience, will kick-off Monday, June 27, 2016 with Dear Boy, book and lyrics by Jeanne Drennan and music by David Berlin, followed by Me, Myself and Others by Eva Rainforth on Monday, August 29, 2016. Both will be presented at CLO's Charles Gray Auditorium at 7:00 pm.

PICT Cancels Upcoming Production of THE TEMPEST Due to Funding Issues

PICT Classic Theatre announced today that due to a significant shortfall in funding, its production of The Tempest, which was scheduled to open on October 10th, has been canceled. PICT's current production of Educating Rita, opening on September 5th, will go on as planned. Decisions about the remainder of the season will be made by PICT's Board of Directors in the coming days.

Michael L. Marra to Star in OLIVER! at Strand Theater

MICHAEL L. MARRA ("Les Mis," Broadway & 4th National Tour, and "Jekyll & Hyde" 1st National Tour) stars as "Bill Sykes" in "Oliver!" at The Strand Theater in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA just 25 miles north of the city's central theatre district. On Thursday, March 27, PICT Theatre and the Arts and Law Committee of the Allegheny County Bar hosted more than 150 guests at the Duquesne Club for the inaugural PICT UnCommon Pleas, a legal theatrical event featuring attorney Dennis Unkovic of Meyer, Unkovic and Scott LLP, and Pittsburgh Tech Council president Audrey Russo as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Federal and state judges Maurice B. Cohill Jr., Nora Barry Fischer, Jeffrey A. Manning, Judith Ference Olson, Christine A. Ward, and Dwayne R.
