The Bessies to Present Town Hall and 2020 Virtual Event
The Bessies announced today that it will present a virtual event this year to honor the 2019-20 nominees. The 36th annual Bessies ceremony, to be held on Monday, December 14, will be a place for the dance and performance community to come together in solidarity, support, and celebration during these continuing challenging times.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, celebrates a landmark 35th anniversary this year. Today, the nominees for the 2019 Bessie Awards, along with the recipients of the 2019 Juried Bessie Award and 2019 Outstanding Breakout Choreographer Award, were announced and celebrated at the Bessies press conference. Bessie Winners Announced Tonight At NYU Skirball Center For The Performing Arts
The night remained forever young at this year's Bessies, what with live performances, videos, tearful and grinning thank you's, hugs and cheers for the new slew of winners, and a costume sashay thrown into wild mix of celebration that took place tonight, October 8, at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. As a prelude to the goings-on inside, impromptu dance performances, including Simone Forti's "Huddle," took place outside. Ayodele Casel and Shernita Anderson hosted the evening.

Into this ever-changing creative landscape 92Y announces a date for the inaugural 92Y Mobile Dance Film Festival, the first dance film festival featuring works shot entirely on mobile devices. 24 films were chosen as Official Selections by an international jury of dance filmmakers, out of more than 50 film submissions from 14 countries- Azerbaijan; Italy; Kazakhstan; Poland; Russia; Turkey; England; USA; Spain; the Netherlands; Italy; Sweden; Venezuela; and Japan.

Conceived by Danspace Project Executive Director and Chief Curator Judy Hussie-Taylor as exhibitions that unfold over time, Platforms are multi-week series of performances and events, organized by guest curators, that act as deep inquiries into artistic practice and concerns. Ten Platforms have been held to date, each accompanied by a print catalogue.
