BWW Review: Book-It's Beautifully Touching THE BROTHERS K, PART TWO is a Must See

Dear Readers, if you read my review for Part One of "The Brothers K", still playing at Book-It Repertory Theatre then you'll know the difficulties I had watching it what with all the onion cutting going on in the theater. Well last night with the premiere of "The Brothers K, Part Two: The Left Stuff" the onions were there in force along with tons of dust, pollen and cats. Must have been the case as the tears were flowing all night long. With just more of the same goodness from Part One, Part Two solidified just how good this story and this production is.

It's 1944 and America's favorite singing cowboys are saddled up to take the British airwaves by storm. There's just one problem: the crooners are no-shows. What's the BBC to do? These blokes must convince the whole of England that they're a band of guitar pickin' American singing cowboys. BWW Reviews: TARTUFFE at Taproot Theatre

A con-man who expounds on his own piety only to eventually be discovered as the most unscrupulous hypocrite of them all. No this is not the latest Senatorial scandal from Washington DC, but the season opener for Taproot Theatre as they present Moliere's comedy in verse, "Tartuffe". And while at times I felt they went a little too broad with the characters and lacked focus, they still managed to turn in a raucous evening.
Photo Flash: Taproot Theatre Presents TARTUFFE

Moliere's comic masterpiece brings us a con artist extraordinaire who oozes piety and charm. Will Tartuffe's hypocrisy be discovered before Orgon's household is turned on its head? Enjoy lightning-quick wit, star-crossed lovers, a badgering grandma and a plot that could be ripped from today's headlines - or a Saturday night comedy show. Associate Artistic Director Karen Lund directs Tartuffe which opens tonight and runs through March 3.
