Pregones/PRTT Kicks Off 2020/2021 Season With Digital Preview Of New Works
Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (Pregones/PRTT)a?"NYC's longest-running theater company centering Puerto Rican and Latinx artistrya?"announces the opening of its 2020/2021 season with Remojo 2020: a preview of new works in development. Featuring five 30-minute especially produced episodes, Remojo 2020 will be broadcast FREE on Mondays at 7:30 p.m. EDT July 6-August 3 through Zoom, Pregones/PRTT's website, and additional digital platforms.
2019 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship Program Recipients And Finalists Announced
New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) has announced the recipients and finalists of the NYSCANYFA Artist Fellowship Program, which it has administered for the past 33 years with leadership support from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA). The organization has awarded a total of $661,000 to 98 artists (including three collaborations) whose ages range from 25-76 years throughout New York State in the following disciplines: ArchitectureEnvironmental StructuresDesign, Choreography, MusicSound, Photography, and PlaywritingScreenwriting. Fifteen finalists, who do not receive a cash award but benefit from a range of other NYFA services, were also announced. A complete list of the Fellows and Finalists follows.
Harlem9 Partners with Pregones Theater PRTT for 48HOURS IN… EL BRONX
After 7 years, the producing collaborative Harlem9 has played to packed houses, picking up an OBIE award along the way in 2014. This April, Harlem9 collaborates with Pregones Theater PRTT, a Latino arts organization in the Bronx for the 2nd time to present "48HOURS IN… EL BRONX". The two organizations first collaborated in December 2016. This year, the theme takes a tour of some of the most memorable dance clubs in Bronx history.

Project Y Theatre Company presents the World Premiere of GREAT AGAIN, an evening of plays in two parts: The Test by Crystal Skillman (directed by Jessi D. Hill) and In the Line by Chiori Miyagawa (directed by Kristin Horton and choreographed by Sonoko Kawahara). This double bill of new plays was commissioned by Project Y Theatre Company, written as a response to the November 2016 election and presented as the centerpiece of the 2nd Annual Women in Theatre Festival dedicated to broadening opportunities for women playwrights. 48Hours in… El Bronx is a collaborative experience presented in association with our colleagues from Harlem9, in which 30 invited artists - 6 Latino playwrights, along with 6 directors and 18 actors - are challenged to re-conceive notable events/experiences from The Bronx into six different ten-minute plays.
Pittsburgh Theatre Community to Host Town Hall on Author's Rights, Equitable Casting
The Dramatists Guild in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh's Department of Theatre Arts, Bricolage Production Company, the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Indiana University of Pennsylvania Department of Theater and Dance, and established performers, writers, and directors will host a Town Hall to address the issues of author's rights and equitable casting. The Town Hall is a call-to-action and a response to recent events nationally and locally.

2016 Recipients Announced for New York Innovative Theatre Awards
On Monday, September 26, 2016, The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization who for the past 12 years has been dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2016 recipients at its annual awards ceremony, The IT Awards. Hosted by a crowd favorite, Jason Kravits and directed by award winning director and sound designer, DeLisa White the ceremony took place from 7pm to 10pm at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

Flux Theatre Ensemble will present the World Premiere of August Schulenburg's (Lesser Seductions of History; DEINDE) JANE THE PLAIN, May 9-24 at the 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). The production will be directed by Kelly O'Donnell (NYIT Award nomination for Hearts Like Fists) with Assistant Director Emily Hartford (Co-founder, Rabbit Hole Ensemble) and will feature Becky Byers* (NYIT Award nomination for Hearts Like Fists), Sol Crespo (nytheatre.com 2012 Person of the Year; August Schulenburg's DEINDE), Chester Poon (Job at The Flea; Adam Szymkowicz's Hearts Like Fists), Alisha Spielmann* (Johnna Adams' Sans Merci), Isaiah Tanenbaum* (August Schulenburg's Honey Fist), and Chinaza Uche* (Indie Theatre Now 2013 Person of the Year; Ellen McLaughlin's Ajax in Iraq). The creative team will include Sound Design by Janie Bullard (2014 USITT/LDI Rising Star Award; Indie Theatre Now 2013 Person of the Year), Set Design by Will Lowry (Ajax in Iraq), Costume Design by Stephanie Levin (Hearts Like Fists), and Lighting Design by Kia Rogers (2012 nytheatre.com Person of the Year).
