Opening Night for PPT's THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO Canceled

Due to the approaching winter storm, PPT has announced that Opening Night for The Count of Monte Cristo scheduled for Thursday, February 13 at the Meroney Theater, has been canceled. All ticket holders for Thursday's show should contact the Meroney Box Office (704-633-5471) at your earliest convenience to reschedule. Shows will resume the regular schedule on Friday, February 14 at 7:30pm. The Meroney Box Office will be open today until the storm begins and will reopen on Thursday as soon as staff can safely get to the theater.

COME BACK, LITTLE SHEBA Begins Shaw Festival Previews

Come Back, Little Sheba, the heartfelt drama that launched William Inge's career and became a Broadway hit, begins previews today at the Shaw Festival's Royal George Theatre. Artistic Director Jackie Maxwell directs this powerful portrayal of flawed humanity and the enduring power of love. With this production, she adds a third work (Picnic (2001), Bus Stop (2005)) by the writer known as the "Playwright of the Midwest" to her directorial repertoire at The Shaw.
Broadway's SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH with Nicole Kidman Delayed; James Franco Drops Out

The NY Times reports that James Franco will not be participating in the upcoming revival of Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth alongside Nicole Kidman, as had previously been set. While no dates had been announced for the production, Kidman had been attached to the production officially as 'Alexandra', while the last reports indicate that Franco had all but signed on the dotted line for the role of 'Chance'. Back in January he told MTV that he planned to participate in the production, while later in the winter the revival's director David Cromer told the New York Times that he believed it was a done deal.
