BWW Feature: 9 Shows In Santa Fe/Albuquerque To Look Forward To in 2019
2018 was an amazing year for theatre in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, and if the proposed seasons for area theatres are any indication, 2019 is going to be a great one, too. From classic plays to super contemporary ones, and of course, a decent amount of musicals, this year has a lot for theatregoers to look forward to.
Here are some productions I'm particularly excited about in the coming months.
AS YOU LIKE IT By William Shakespeare Comes to UNM
As You Like It, one of Shakespeare's great comedies, has long been an audience favorite, and no wonder...it's filled with spectacular wit and humor, along with gender identity, philosophy, Nature as the Cure for Civilization, 'All the world's a stage,' wrestling, lust, coming of age, and music. Name it. It's in there. UNM's Department of Theatre and Dance production of Shakespeare's As You Like It runs November 9 through 19, 2018 in Rodey Theatre on UNM's Main Campus.

The Resident Acting Company (RAC), Drawn From The Former Pearl Troupe, Emerges With Staged Reading Of THE BIG NIGHT
On June 25, The Resident Acting Company (www.racnyc.org), a new troupe drawn from the performing ensemble of The Pearl Theatre Company, will present a staged reading of 'The Big Night' (1928) by humorist Dawn Powell, a harsh, biting comedy about a woman whose husband has been fired from an advertising agency. The play was the author's masterpiece but failed on Broadway in a production of The Group Theatre. The version to be offered is a restoration by Michael Sexton from the author's original notes and drafts. It retains some of the Group Theatre's 'improvements' but includes the author's original ending. The reading will be at 7:00 PM at The Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South, directed by Bradford Cover, Artistic Director of the troupe.
