501 (see three) ARTS Announces Triple Premiere of PANG!
501 (see three) ARTS announces the triple premiere of Pang!, by Dan Froot and Company, three live radio plays based on the oral histories of families hungering for change. Pang! will be performed for theatre audiences in October, December, and January in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (10/20 & 10/21), Los Angeles, California (12/2 & 12/3), and Miami, Florida (1/25, 1/26 & 1/27/18), respectfully. Pang! aims to raise awareness, decrease stigma, and promote cross-class dialogue around circumstances faced by families living below the poverty line.

Theatre Raymond Kabbaz, the performance space at Le Lycee Francais de Los Angeles, is pleased to present Bahu-Beti-Biwi, a stunning solo performance that weaves together dance, theatre, live singing and more, by multi-talented performer Sheetal Gandhi on Thursday, February 6, 2014. Bahu-Beti-Biwi (Daughter-in-Law, Daughter, Wife), choreographed, written and directed by Gandhi, is a powerful work at the intersection of traditional Indian and contemporary Western cultures. The 50-minute performance mines Gandhi's own life in a commentary on the traditional roles of Indian women.

The 2012-2013 season of the Bryn Mawr College Performing Arts Series concludes Friday, March 22 with Bahu-Beti-Biwi, a solo performance by intercultural, multi-disciplinary director, choreographer and performer Sheetal Gandhi. Reviewed as "striking" and "stunning" in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Gandhi incorporates elements of contemporary and traditional dance, dramatic multi-lingual vocalizations and percussive text to comment on the Indian diaspora and the traditional roles of women in India.

In the season's final production of South Coast Repertory's Theatre for Young Audiences series, Jane of the Jungle, a world premiere musical from playwright Karen Zacarias and composer Deborah Wicks La Puma, tells the story of an average girl who is about to undergo some big changes. The show will run on the Julianne Argyros Stage from tonight May 25 - June 10.

Asian American Theater Conference and Festival to be Held in LA, 6/16-26
For the first time, the National Asian American Theater Conference and the National Asian American Theater Festival will be held jointly from June 16-25, 2011. The event will be presented in Los Angeles by the Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists (CAATA) and hosted by Asian American Theaters East West Players and Teada Productions, both residing in Los Angeles.
