This spring, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) continues to bring outstanding live performances to community venues throughout the five boroughs of New York City with its free Neighborhood Concerts. For almost four decades, Carnegie Hall Neighborhood Concerts have featured performances by top artists across multiple genres including jazz, world music, classical, and more. In addition, WMI presents a number of free family-friendly programs throughout New York City as part of the Carnegie Kids series.

Shine and the Moonbeams to Release First Album, 6/18

NYC's Shine and the Moonbeams took the kindie world by storm in 2011 with a live performance at the annual Kindiefest conference and the release of a nationally acclaimed radio hit called 'High Five.' Since then, lead singer Shawana Kemp has taken her band and fans on a musical adventure, performing shows for enthusiastic crowds at NYC's Summerstage, Symphony Space and Carnegie Kids and recording a batch of original and hooky songs. The happy result is Shine and the Moonbeams, the band's first self-titled album release, available digitally and in hard copy on June 18, 2013 from CDBaby and other retailers.
The Pop Ups - Radio Jungle Plays the Jewish Museum, 2/3

The Jewish Museum is presenting The Pop Ups - Radio Jungle, a concert for families on Sunday, February 3 at 2:00 pm. Concert attendees will enjoy a musical romp set in an imaginary world of mermaids, treasure maps, gigantic crayons and glowing constellations brought to life through cardboard props, hand-painted sets, and a colorful cast of original puppets. Featured songs are from The Pop Ups' new album, Radio Jungle, nominated for a 2013 GRAMMY Award for Best Children's Album. This program is recommended for children ages 2 to 7.

A soulful, sweet and smooth-as-molasses show for all ages. Take two outstanding NYC musicians (singer Shawana Kemp and guitarist Jon Heagle) with eclectic musical tastes and influences, combine their unique perspectives, add a backup band, and witness the result: a groove-heavy R&B musical extravaganza in a rock and roll package, capturing the uncertainty and simplicity of youth with their original songs and classics."
