The Shed Announces New Digital Work From Mariana Valencia, Ayesha Jordan, and The Brothers Sick
The Shed's digital commissioning program Up Close continues with new works by Mariana Valencia premiering on November 16, Ayesha Jordan with collaborator Justin Hicks premiering on November 30, and The Brothers Sick with collaborators Danilo Machado and Yo-Yo Lin premiering on December 14.

The Shed Announces its 2020 Season
Alex Poots, Artistic Director and CEO of The Shed, today announced its 2020 Season of new productions by progressive artists from across the performing arts, visual arts, and pop culture, including live performances, solo exhibitions, and the final group of The Shed's inaugural Open Call series for emerging New York City-based artists. Poots also announced the appointment of Madani Younis, who joins The Shed in January as Chief Executive Producer. To celebrate the opening season as it draws to a close, The Shed will host its first open house, Meet at The Shed, on Saturday, January 11, 2020, featuring special pop-up events and free admission to its current exhibitions.

The group features Justin Hicks, composer/performer from Lynn Nottage's Mlima's Tale (The Public Theater), Empire State Works in Progress (The Whitney Museum), and Shasta Geaux Pop(The Highline) among others.

Curated by Professor Jay Scheib, the series launches with performance artist Adrienne Truscott's celebrated solo work THIS, Andrew Schneider's new production NERVOUSSYSTEM and Ayesha Jordan's one-woman sci-fi telenovela Shasta Geaux Pop, developed in collaboration with Charlotte Brathwaite, MIT Assistant Professor of Theater Arts. MIT Performing envisions an array of productions, lectures and new performance idioms throughout the year. Broadway's newest intimate concert venue – has announced the solo debut of Mykal Kilgore, the celebrated vocalist from The Wiz Live! on NBC TV, Postmodern Jukebox, Motown on Broadway and more, for a two night concert engagement Friday, March 9 at 9:30 PM and Saturday, March 10 at 7:00 PM. These shows will feature original music from Mykal's upcoming album and covers of some of music's most heralded pop favorites with a Kilgore twist. After performances for “The View,” the Mayor of New York, and Brooklyn Nets, these live intimate shows powerfully return Kilgore to the concert stage.
