Photo Flash: Celebrating MIDDLETOWN At Buck's County Playhouse

GFour Productions, producers of MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL and Tony-nominated FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, recently presented a limited engagement of the play MIDDLETOWN by Dan Clancy, at Bucks County Playhouse. Featuring an all-star cast, MIDDLETOWN is described as "an exhilarating and universal depiction of love, life and friendship, and how each endures through the roller coaster of life."

In mid-November, theater lovers gathered at The Players in New York City for the launch of Bucks County Playhouse's new Play Discovery Reading Series. The debut of the new series featured a benefit reading of Bruce Graham's "The Outgoing Tide" directed by Marsha Mason and starring Mason, Peter Strauss ("Rich Man, Poor Man") and Michael Nathanson (Netflix's "The Punisher" and BCP's "Chapter Two"). Victor Slezak ("Blue Bloods") provided narration.

Lou Volpe, the retired theatre education pioneer was recently inducted into the prestigious Bucks County Playhouse Hall of Fame, following such honorees as Angela Lansbury, Oscar Hammerstein and Shirley Jones. A formal ceremony was held on April 14 at the historic playhouse. Volpe, whose career is the inspiration behind "Rise," the new TV series on NBC, was heralded for his life's work as a high school drama teacher at Harry S. Truman High School in Levittown, PA. During his tenure there, he transformed this Bucks County community with the magic of theater.

The rebirth of Bucks County Playhouse (BCP) was celebrated with over 300 guests at the Second Annual Galavant in the Garden on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the magnificent 100-acre 18th century Hortulus Farm in Wrightstown, PA. There was a outstanding concert by the renowned Broadway and television star Megan Hilty. The gala is the premiere fall event of Bucks County complete with aperitifs, a moveable feast, live auction, Hilty's performance and a lavish dessert buffet. From One Singular Sensation to The Way We Were, composer Marvin Hamlisch left a legacy of hits that have brightened Broadway and the musical catalogue of America forever. And so, The Philly POPS presented 'Marvin Hamlisch - A Musical Tribute' conducted by Larry Blank, Hamlisch's conductor, and three of his favorite singers: Donna McKechnie, Jodi Benson and Doug LaBrecque. The tribute took place on Friday, March 14-16 in Verizon Hall at The Kimmel Center. Blank and the guest artists not only presented wonderful musical memories with the audience, but they shared personal recollections of Marvin Hamlisch as well.
