'Diary of a Future President' is created by showrunner Ilana Peña ('Crazy Ex-Girlfriend') and loosely inspired by Peña's own adolescence. 'Diary of a Future President' has been lauded for its authentic portrayal of a Latinx tween and her friends and family.

Tribeca Announces 2020 Short Film Lineup
The 19th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its 2020 Shorts Program lineup. Setting a record with over 6,100 submissions, the final program roster includes 64 diverse and captivating short films from 20 countries around the globe, and features 46 world premieres, including DreamWorks Animation's new animated short, To Gerard. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs which include five narrative, four documentary, and one animation program. For the fourth consecutive year, 40 percent of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. Queen Collective by Procter & Gamble in partnership with Queen Latifah, Flavor Unit Entertainment and Tribeca Studios is back, a program dedicated to supporting gender and racial equality behind the camera. The 2020 shorts lineup is programmed by Sharon Badal and Ben Thompson. The 2020 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 15 - April 26.

In the new Disney+ series “Diary of a Future President,” we see the origin story of a future leader. Told using the narration of 12-year-old Cuban American girl Elena's diary, this new family comedy follows her journey through the ups and downs of middle school, which set her on the path to becoming the president of the United States. “Diary of a Future President” was inspired by creator Ilana Peña's (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) childhood and is produced by Gina Rodriguez's (Jane the Virgin) I Can and I Will Productions. Rodriguez directed the first episode and guest stars as grown-up Elena.

The Disney+ original series, “Diary of a Future President,” from I Can and I Will Productions and CBS Television Studios, will premiere on Friday, January 17. Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin,” “Someone Great”) and Emily Gipson (“Someone Great”) serve as executive producers on the 10-episode series, along with creator Ilana Peña (“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”), on whose childhood the show was inspired, showrunner Robin Shorr (“The Carmichael Show”) and Brad Silberling (“Jane the Virgin”).
