BWW Interview: Rory O'Malley Talks Playing Shakespeare in AMERICAN PRINCESS
Tony Nominated actor, Rory O'Malley (The Book of Mormon), fresh off of his run as King George in both the Broadway and West Coast productions of Hamilton, is starring as Brian Dooley in Lifetime's new series American Princess. The show is executive produced by Jenji Kohan (Orange is the New Black, Weeds, and GLOW) and follows a runaway bride as she joins a Renaissance Fair after her wedding goes awry. In the series, Rory plays the Faire's beloved Shakespeare.
Lifetime Announces Newest Scripted Comedy, AMERICAN PRINCESS
The world of yesteryear emerges front and center with the premiere of Lifetime's new scripted dramedy, American Princess on Sunday, June 2 at 9pm ET/PT. From A+E Studios, creator Jamie Denbo and executive producers Jenji Kohan, Tara Herrmann and Mark A. Burley, the series follows runaway bride Amanda Klein (Aussie newcomer Georgia Flood, Anzac Girls, Wentworth) as she joins a Renaissance Faire after her wedding goes awry, only to discover there's a lot more to life than she once thought.
Rory O'Malley Joins Cast of Jenji Kohan's AMERICAN PRINCESS Series, Additional Cast Announced
Lifetime's new straight-to-series scripted show American Princess from Jenji Kohan, Jamie Denbo, and Tara Herrmann, has found its leading wench-in-waiting! Georgia Flood (Anzac Girls, Wentworth Prison) joins the Lifetime series about a socialite who runs off to join a Renaissance Faire after her wedding goes awry. Lucas Neff (Raising Hope, Fear Inc., Downward Dog), Seana Kofoed (Men in Trees, Flaked), Rory O'Malley (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Hamilton) and Mary Hollis Inboden (The Real O'Neals, Here And Now) round out the series cast. Produced by A+E Studios in association with Global Road Entertainment, ten one-hour episodes have been greenlit for production this summer in Los Angeles.
The 17th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Announces Short Film Lineup With Narrative, Documentary, & Animated Shorts
The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its lineup of 55 diverse and engaging short films in competition, including 29 world premieres. The selected shorts include a cross-section of international and U.S. filmmakers and were curated from a record 4,754 submissions. For the second year running, 40% of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs, which consist of five narrative, three documentary, one animation, and one hybrid program. The program will also include special screenings and the 12th annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival, sponsored by Mohegan Sun. The Shorts Film program, sponsored by Nutella®, runs throughout the Festival, April 18-29.
