He graduated from Western Carolina University with a BA in Theater and Communication. Subsequently, Scott attended the University of Iowa where he received a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Theater Arts. He spent 3 summers, as the Associate Lighting Supervisor in the lighting department of the Williamstown Theater Festival, the largest seasonal theater in America. For the past 4 years Scott lived in NYC. During that time, he was the Resident Lighting Designer at Examine Man Theatre and designed numerous productions at various theaters including, the Algonquin, the Milagro, the Ohio, the West Side, Playwrights Horizons, Theater Row and the Looking Glass. His designs included, new works, drama, musicals, operas, and comedies such as The Arrangement, When in Disgrace, Saint Hollywood, Once and Twice, Matters of the Heart that was a benefit for the American Heart Association, Oliver, Mid-Summer’s Night Dream, and the International WOW Company’s Drama Desk Award Winning production of Surrender and You Belong to Me. Scott has also assisted lighting designers such as Howell Binkley, Marcus Doshi, Frances Aronson, and Ed McCarthy. This last summer one of Scott’s designs was shown at the USA booth of the Prague Quadrennial International Design exhibit and at USITT in Long Beach.
