Broadway Veteran Michael McCarty Dies at 68

Stage and screen actor Michael McCarty, 68, died on Friday of heart failure after collapsing and becoming unconscious a few days earlier. The original Broadway cast member of AMADEUS was set to appear in a Santa Barbara production of the show in October.

Manhattan School of Music held its 88th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 16, 2014 at The Riverside Church (located at 490 Riverside Drive, New York City). This year, degrees were awarded to 357 graduates from the School's graduate and undergraduate programs who come from 46 states and more than 40 countries. The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will embark on an unprecedented series of Metro area concerts to complement performances at Orchestra Hall in 2011-12. One of the autumn's most appealing programs begins tonight when Leonard Slatkin conducts Schubert's 'Unfinished' Symphony, Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 3 and an electrifying new work by the young American composer Mason Bates called 'B-Sides' that closes with a ripping homage to Detroit's techno scene.

Rehearsals begin yesterday, Monday, April 5 for the World Premiere production of PARADISE FOUND, a new musical under the combined direction of Theater legend and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince (the original productions of Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, The Phantom of the Opera, Company, Follies, Evita) and 5-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Crazy For You, Show Boat, The Producers, Contact). This is their first collaboration since the landmark, Tony Award-winning revival of Show Boat. Following the New York rehearsal period, the production will open at London's acclaimed Menier Chocolate Factory with performances running May 19 through June 26.
