NEXT TO NORMAL Gets NYC Suburban Staging with THREE ACT THEATRE COMPANY
Three Act Theatre announces its production of NEXT TO NORMAL. This Pulitzer Prize winning musical written by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey will get a new staging in Pelham, NY this October. Directed & Choreographed by Eric Mark Olson, Music Directed by Kevin A. Smith, and featuring a cast led by Cindy Finegan and Richard Lisenby.

The National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) previously announced that 56 high school students from across America will compete for the coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actor and Best Performance by an Actress, at the 6th annual presentation at the Minskoff Theatre tonight, June 30. Ryan McCartan, 2011 Jimmy Award winner, will host the 2-hour talent showcase that features dynamic ensemble and solo performances.

Ryan McCartan, 2011 Jimmy Award winner, will host the 2-hour talent showcase that features dynamic ensemble and solo performances. McCartan recently starred as JD in the Off-Broadway hit musical, Heathers, appears regularly as Diggy in Liv & Maddie on the Disney Channel, and is a recurring character on the USA Network's Royal Pains. The event will be held at the Minskoff Theatre (200 W. 45th St) and begins at 7:30 pm.

The 4th annual Gershwin Awards, a celebration of outstanding achievement in musical theater performance by high school students,was held yesterday at the Davenport Studios to select the Best Leading Actress and Best Leading Actor in the New York City metropolitan area. Forty students representing high schools in the five boroughs, Long Island, and Westchester were nominated by their teachers to compete for the Gershwin Award based on the quality of his/her performance of a leading character role in their school musical presented during the2013-2014 academic year. The one day event featured an ensemble performance of a Gershwin medley and a showcase of student solos performing a song fromhis/her school production performed for a panel of Broadway professionals.
