UP Theater Company Provides English-to-Spanish Translation Performances Of A BARN PLAY

For the past 10 years, Inwood's UP Theater Company has provided a creative space for new plays to be seen and heard, and to engage communities in Northern Manhattan with their work. Their latest production, the darkly comic fable a?oeA Barn Playa?? presents a group of farm animals rehearsing a show. But tensions rise and their art falls apart as the mother animals realize that their young offspring are being taken away. The world-premiere of Lizzie Donahue's a?oeA Barn Playa?? begins March 18 and runs through April 4, 2020, at the Good Shepherd/Inwood Academy Space at 108 Cooper Street. Directed by Melissa Moschitto, Founding Artistic Director of The Anthropologists.
Northern Manhattan's UP Theater Company Has Announced the Cast of A BARN PLAY

Northern Manhattan's own UP Theater Company presents a different kind of animal farm in the world premiere of Lizzie Donahue's 'A Barn Play' March 18-April 4, 2020, at the Good Shepherd/Inwood Academy Space. This timely and darkly comic fable explores the power of creating art amidst oppression when a cast of farm animals rehearses their show. Directed by Melissa Moschitto, Founding Artistic Director of The Anthropologists.
PERMISSION At Secret Theatre Will Raise Funds For Victims Of Sexual Assault

'PERMISSION' by RACHAEL CARNES has been selected as part of the Secret Theatre's Act One: One Act Festival 2020, in New York City. 'PERMISSION' will be presented on January 30, February 7, 15 & 23 at the Secret Theatre. 'PERMISSION' is one of more than 50 short plays presented during the month-long event, and since the play responds to the issue of sexual assault, its creative team have partnered with local nonprofit Creative Women NYC to use the play performances as a fundraiser for the Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervantion Program (SAVI) in NYC.

Tickets are now on sale for the Caravan Theatre Company's New York Premiere of MARLOWE'S FATE, an original play written and directed by Peter B. Hodges about two innocent men struggling to survive in an Elizabethan Age of Machiavellian spies, slapstick puppets and an outrageous avalanche of unintended consequences. The production is the second part of BATTLE OF THE BARDS: THE CHRISTOPHER MARLOWE FESTIVAL, a six week festival that features two original plays about William Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe and the stories behind the greatest literary deception of all time. MARLOWE'S FATE will run May 10th - May 26th in the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). The official opening will be on Thursday, May 17.

Atar Hadari's penetrating new play, Merciful Father will open UP Theater's seventh season. The World Premiere of Merciful Father will runNovember 1st through November 12th in Northern Manhattan. The play is based on Sholem Asch's scandalous Yiddish play God of Vengeance which was the inspiration for Paula Vogel's new play, Indecent which premiered at the Vineyard Theatre last season. God of Vengeance premiered on Broadway at the Apollo Theatre in 1923 and featured Broadway's first lesbian kiss. The play was so far ahead of its time, the actors and producers were indicted for giving an immoral performance. Atar Hadari's, Merciful Father is a proactive new take on the story. The production is directed by UP's Artistic Director, James Bosley who has premiered three of his play with UP, including the critically acclaimed productions of Broad Channel, and Epic Poetry.
