REDCAT Presents The West Coast Premiere of THE NOSEBLEED, The Obie Award-Winning Show from Aya Ogawa
From Feb. 1 to 3, 2024, Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT), CalArts' center for contemporary arts in downtown Los Angeles, in association with East West Players, presents the West Coast premiere of The Nosebleed, the 2022 Obie Award-winning show from innovative playwright, performer, translator, and director Aya Ogawa.
WOLF PLAY, TITANIQUE & More Win at the 2023 Lucille Lortel Awards
The 2023 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out this evening to recipients in 15 categories, with four honorary awards also bestowed. The Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball hosted by stars of stage and screen: Kevin Cahoon (Tony nominee, 'Shucked'), D'Arcy Carden ('The Thanksgiving Play'), Crystal Lucas-Perry (Tony nominee, 'Ain't No Mo''), Bonnie Milligan (Tony nominee, 'Kimberly Akimbo'), Arian Moayed (Tony nominee, 'A Doll's House'), and Tamara Tunie (The New Group's 'Bernarda's Daughters'). The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by the Off-Broadway League and Lucille Lortel Theatre, with additional support provided by TDF.

Toshio Hosokawa's HANJO Comes to NYU Skirball Next Month
NYU Skirball will present the North American premiere of Toshio Hosokawa’s Hanjo, directed by Luca Veggetti and produced by Catapult Opera, on Friday, September 30 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, October 2 at 2:00 pm at NYU Skirball. Neal Goren conducts.

Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3 production of The Nosebleed will run through Sunday, August 28 at the Claire Tow Theater. A new play written and directed by Aya Ogawa, Ogawa will also be featured in the production, along with Drae Campbell, Ashil Lee, Chris Manley, Saori Tsukada, and Kaili Y. Turner. BWW Review: A Fantastic and Profound ZERO COST HOUSE by Pig Iron Theatre
Sometimes you just have to let a play wash over you. Not try to ride the waves and steer your way through. Just let whatever happen. Zero Cost House is one such experience. The oceanic volume of big picture themes and insightfully sharp details cannot be controlled by the viewer. Toshiki Okada's play does not let you be in control.

BWW Review: Forget Brooklyn. Opera Philadelphia World Premieres Show Only the Dead Know Philadelphia
Thomas Wolfe--famed for his novels including “Look Homeward, Angel”--is also remembered for the quotable title of one of his short stories: “Only the Dead Know Brooklyn.” Judging my weekend at Opera Philadelphia's O19 opera festival, and its two world premieres, DENIS & KATYA and LET ME DIE, he could have also written “Only the Dead Know Philadelphia” (though it might have missed the priceless Brooklyn accents used in the story by this southern writer).

Skidmore Theater and MDOCS has announced for one night only a special guest presentation of OYSTER, a multimedia opera about iconic folklorist Alan Lomax and his Cantometrics system of categorizing world music, set in the lull between the McCarthy era and the advancing information technology age. Written by acclaimed composer and multidisciplinary artist Joe Diebes and directed by award-winning returning guest artist Phil Soltanoff, OYSTER is sponsored by MDOCS, part of the semester-long series Cosmic Tones: Mapping the Musical Multiverse in Documentary, and co-sponsored by Skidmore Theater.
