Full Creative Team Set For HEAVY With Talawa Young Peoples' Theatre

Olivier award nominated director Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu (For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy; Rumble in the Jungle; 2022 Black British Theatre Award for Best Director) will lead a company of young artists aged 18-25 and amazing professional creatives in HEAVY. 
Talawa's Flagship Programme TYPT Returns, Supporting Black Emerging Theatre Makers

TYPT, Talawa Theatre Company’s flagship free programme for emerging theatre makers, is back this summer.  The annual programme sees a team of 12 emerging artists, aged 18-25, work with established artists to create a brand-new show in just four weeks.  This year’s showcase will be 16th – 18th August at Talawa’s HQ at Fairfield Halls in Croydon.

The cast of Roy Williams’ SUCKER PUNCH have arrived in Wolverhampton ahead of performances running until Friday 16 June, with the city’s iconic stage transformed into a boxing ring for the performances. The revival of the play is on its first major UK tour as part of theatre network Theatre Nation Partnerships made up of theatres and creative organisations across the country and the National Theatre. Casting Announced For FAMILY TREE as Part of Greenwich+Docklands International Festival

Family Tree takes as its inspiration the story of Henrietta Lacks, an African American woman, whose cells were harvested and cultivated without her consent after her death from cervical cancer in the 1950s. The so-called HeLa cells have been vital to studying disease and have even contributed to the development of the COVID-19 vaccines. 
BWW Review: J'OUVERT, Harold Pinter Theatre

We have been to space; now it’s party time. Following Amy Berryman’s Walden, Sonia Friedman Productions’ RE:EMERGE season continues at the Harold Pinter Theatre with Yasmin Joseph’s J’Ouvert. Set in the annual Notting Hill Carnival in 2017, Joseph’s spirited debut play was first produced in 2019 at Theatre503, in a staging that also marked the directorial debut of actor Rebekah Murrell. In the play’s West End outing, Murrell is once again at the helm, and the result is a joyous, plucky work that thrusts us into a communal tradition as experienced by three young women.
