Arvada Opens Black Box Season with THE FOREIGNER, Performances Added
The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities has opened the 2017 2018 Black Box season with The Foreigner, directed by Geoffrey Kent. The Foreigner, by Larry Shue, earned two Obie Awards and two Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production when first produced in 1984. The play, a farce filled with comic surprise, has become a staple of both professional and amateur theatre. The 2017 2018 Arvada Center Theatre Season is sponsored by Lutheran Medical Center.

THEATREWORKS Revives EVERYMAN on a Bus, Now thru 3/17
We all know death can strike any place any time, often coming as a most unwelcome surprise. In the greatest play of the Middle Ages, Death comes to Everyman when he's least expecting it, and tells him to get ready for the trip of his life. 600 years later Death is still coming to every man, and in the THEATREWORKS revival of the play, Everyman will get his bad news on a city bus leaving from downtown Colorado Springs. He won't be travelling alone: 35 audience members will be joining him for the ride of his lifetime. Everyman on a Bus plays Wednesdays through Sundays, February 21-March 17, with two performances each night.

On Oct 18, the Arvada Center opens the children's theater production How I Became a Pirate, book, music and lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman, directed by David and Julie Payne. The stage production is based on the book, How I Became a Pirate written by Melinda Long and illustrations by David Shannon. The show will run Oct 18 - Dec 28, 2012. Performances are 10 a.m. and noon, most Tuesdays through Fridays, select Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For specific show dates please check our website. How I Became a Pirate is recommended for ages four and up. Ticket prices range from $8 weekdays and $10 weekends and holidays for reserved seating. Arvada Center Opens HOW I BECAME A PIRATE, 1/26
On January 26, The Arvada Center opens the children's theater production How I Became a Pirate, book, music and lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman, directed by David and Julie Payne. The stage production is based on the book, How I Became a Pirate written by Melinda Long and Illustrations by David Shannon. The show will run January 26 - March 9 in the Center's Main Stage Theater before moving to the intimate Black Box Theater March 21 - April 14, 2012. Performances are 10am and noon, Tuesday through Friday, Saturdays at 11am - February 18, 25 and March 2 and 11am and 1pm, April 7 and 14.
