What truly makes us well? Is wellness some otherworldly notion or mindset that we consciously choose or decide not to choose? How much power does an individual genuinely have over their wellness, or lack thereof? Additionally, how much power does an individual have over the wellness of others? These are the questions that the cast and creatives of Lisa Kron's WELL, currently in performance at Mildred's Umbrella Theatre Company, ask the audience to consider as they witness a multicharacter theatrical exploration of issues of health and illness both in the individual and in a community .

Obsidian Theater in association with Standing Room Only Productions is excited to bring the musical comedy, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, to Houston audiences. This hilarious whodunit will run September 28-October 14 at Obsidian Theater. With book, music and lyrics by Rupert Holmes, this show within a show is based on the final unfinished novel of the same name by Charles Dickens, who left his story unfinished when he passed away in 1870. Due to the novel being incomplete, the identity of the murderer, or the question of Drood's ultimate fate, was never revealed.

Next Iteration Theater Company (NITC) presents its 2nd Annual Intercultural Play Reading Series featuring three plays over three nights at the MATCH. The event begins on Thursday evening, May 11th with Lauren Yee's comedic drama, In A Word. Chinese American playwright, Yee, has recently received the Francesca Primus Prize for In A Word. The play uses grief and comedy to tell the story of Fiona on the second anniversary after her young son has disappeared. As the character tries to make sense of it all, she delves into the memories of that chaotic day and takes us with her.
